Pizza Hut Stands By ‘America’s Got Talent’ And Howard Stern

Howard Stern Gets Fan In Pizza Hut

Howard Stern’s turn as a judge on America’s Got Talent has drawn the ire of the Parents Television Council but that hasn’t stopped pizza chain Pizza Hut from airing its family friendly advertisements on the popular TV series.

The Parents Television Council has been urging advertisers to pull out of the show while threatening boycotts. Pizza Hut however had agreed to keep its commercials in place, releasing the following statement:

“Pizza Hut strives to maintain the highest standards of quality and excellence in our communications to the public. Our advertisements are no exception, and are designed to draw attention to our products and appeal to a broad audience.”

The company’s rep continues:

“Unfortunately, we may not always success in generating a positive impact on every guest, and we apologize if our methods offend some.”

It is likely that many advertisers for the show were well aware of the blow back that would occur when Howard Stern was announced as the shows newest judge and therefore prepared for the moment when they would come under attack by outside groups attempting to quell Howard Stern’s voice on the show.

In the meantime Howard Stern is just rolling with the punches and seems indifferent to this newest round of media hype, telling NorthJersey.com:

“Somebody wrote that I wanted to do TV because I’d fallen out of the public consciousness. That’s so ridiculous. I went to satellite to get away from people.”

What might be most crazy about Stern taking over for Piers Morgan is the simple fact that Parents Television Council has no idea how he’ll act on the show. Sure Stern is not the most pleasant host on talk radio but he also conducts himself behind the “closed doors” of subscriber based satellite radio, for all we know Stern’s personality on America’s Got Talent could be more along the lines of a cranky Simon Cowell type than a shock jock looking to offend the shows viewers with potty mouth humor.

Like others have said before me , shock value in tv is what keeps it going. The more repulsive people on tv are the more others like them want to see it…I'ts true our young viewers are subjected to the depravity on tv and they in turn act it out. And all of you who do not believe this are walking aroun with your eyes and ears closed.

  2. There is always a group out there to protest folks that operate outside the box. I am no fan of Howard Stern, but I am sure he has been warned on his limits on the program. I don't need a parents group to tell me what my child can or cannot watch. It's real simple, if the language or the content is not appropriate for your child, then don't let them watch it and change the channel.

I think he'll be a good judge, certainly blunt and to the point….but I doubt there will be fodder for anything similar to what he does on radio. Unless of course someone's talent is jumping on a trampoline while having DDD boobs LOL.

Just what we need….more censorship. If you don't like it…..CHANGE THE CHANNEL!

  5. Howard is a total perv, but NBC won't let him get away with too much. But then again this is a network that just canceled one of it's most watched shows, Harrys Law. That pissed me off.

  9. When I came across this article, I was under the impression that he'd won the Pixel Award in a tv prime time slot. Now I find out. He hasn't opened his mouth yet. For all the worry that he wouldn't be fit for the children's hour, you have more or less, given him carte blanche to take your heads off.
