Derek Hough Wants This A-List Actor To Appear On ‘Dancing With The Stars’

Dancing with the Stars just announced its professional roster for Season 21. Fan favorite Derek Hough made the list, despite musing at the end of last season that he may or may not return to the program. The celebrities won’t be public knowledge until September 2, but until then, fans can speculate who will be hitting the ballroom this fall.

Hough has a couple of picks of his own. He told Entertainment Weekly on Wednesday he’d like to see a couple of unlikely names learn some fancy steps: an A-List action star and a comedian.

“I wouldn’t dance with him obviously because he’s a dude. [B]ut The Rock would be funny. Or Kevin Hart would be awesome to watch.”

The WWE’s bio on The Rock, aka Dwayne Johnson, says he’s six-foot-five and 260 lbs. Although that may have changed a bit since he was a professional wrestler, the current star of Ballers is definitely a big guy.

Derek Hough does not have a celebrity partner yet. Last season, he came in fourth with Nastia Liukin, during a season plagued with injury. Those injuries caused him to step aside for a few weeks and let Sasha Farber take the lead with his partner.

Despite his many years on DWTS and his success as a contestant, Hough told EW he doesn’t see himself as a judge anytime soon. He says his sister, Julianne, has done a great job, but he just could not give effective critiques.

“I don’t know. Not on our show. For me, I give her such credit because being a judge is an interesting role because it’s not the most popular role to be in because people disagree with you and all these things happen.

“So you have to really be comfortable with what you say. For me I’d be like, ‘Everybody is amazing! I love you all! Candy for all! Just keep going!’ I don’t know. I would be too antsy behind a desk. I would want to get out there and move and dance. I think I’ve still got a lot more in me. So, no plans on slowing down right now.”

Len Goodman will not be behind the judges table in the new year, but panel staples Bruno Tonioli and Carrie Ann Inaba will be back, as will Julianne.

The new season of Dancing with the Stars premieres on September 14 on ABC.
