‘Vampire Diaries’ Star Nina Dobrev To Star In ‘True Detective’? Filming For Season 3 Moving To Europe?

With all the attention and success the newest season of True Detective is accumulating, there is one Hollywood star that wants to get in on the action. According to Hollywood Life, Vampire Diaries’ Nina Dobrev is clamoring for a role in the hit series in the next season.

“One of the people who would love to get her hands on a role in True Detective for season three is Nina Dobrev,” an inside source revealed. “She has told her people to start talking to the right people and to get her into those meetings. She knows she has time since season two has just ended, but she wants to be first in line for when decisions are to be made.”

Although many fans would be elated to see the former Vampire Diaries’ play a role in True Detective, which has featured the likes of Matthew McConaughey, Colin Farrell, and Rachel McAdams, Dobrev isn’t the only one in Hollywood seeking a part in the hit show.

“Everyone in Hollywood is clamoring for a role on two shows right now and those shows are True Detective and Empire,” the source explained. “It is something that is keeping casting agents busy, but also making their lives easier because producers are getting whom and what they want.”

Meanwhile, news has recently surfaced that the third season of True Detective might see the show moving overseas. In an interview with Express, Tim Murphy (Osip Agronov) revealed that the new setting might be somewhere in Europe.

“I think there is going to be a third season. I’ve been hearing something about it being set in Europe so that would be interesting,” he stated. “So if there’s a movie that jumps out at me there it would be The French Connection; something like that set in Paris.”

Which actors does Murphy think would be good for the lead roles in the new season?

“…Matthias Schoenaerts, he’s a Belgian actor. He did Bullhead years ago,” he stated. “He’s a great actor and if you were going to get a great European actor, he’s one of them. And Javier Bardem. His recent movies I haven’t liked as much but initially he’s one of my favorite actors.”

Although HBO hasn’t officially declared that it will order another season of True Detective, the show has managed to build a large viewership, making it more than likely that the series will continue to thrive.

The first season of The Vampire Diaries without Nina Dobrev premieres October 8 on the CW.
