Drunk Man Digs Up Father’s Grave To Argue With His Corpse

A drunk man from Kentucky has been arrested for digging up his father’s grave in order to argue with his corpse.

According to the Huffington Post, 44-year-old Michael May was caught by a police officer digging his father’s grave on Monday night in a cemetery in Sanford, Kentucky. When confronted about the disturbing behavior, Michael May informed the officer that he needed to have an argument with his dead father.

The officer reported that Michael May was clearly intoxicated and continued to quote verses from the Bible to him while trying to get into his father’s grave. He explained that the plan was to get him out of the ground so that his body could ascend to heaven. His father died almost 40 years ago.

“I went back and hollered for him to step back in the light and he told me to step back to the dark,” said the officer. “That’s when I went and got my flashlight. He started hollering out [Bible] verses at me. He told me he was trying to dig his dad up, so his dad could go to Heaven.”

He was arrested on multiple charges, including violating a grave, public intoxication, and possession of marijuana.

A local news station approached Michael May in his Lincoln County Jail cell to ask him why he dug up his father’s grave. His explanation was just as bizarre as the crime itself. The reporter asked May if he believed he should be behind bars, to which the suspect replied “no” and insisted he didn’t do anything wrong. The reporter then asked Michael May if he believed he had violated his father’s grave. His response was strange and chilling.

“No, no. I see the truth.. he needs to be on the ground. Not under it.”

Michael May then claimed he would try to dig up his father’s grave again if nobody else could understand.

“It’s a possibility,” he said. “If the truth doesn’t come out and nobody sees the truth, yeah I’ll do it again.”

According to Wave3, it’s possible that it wasn’t even his own father’s grave that he was violating. The cemetery registry listed 13 different people with the same last name as Michael May, so it isn’t clear if the body he tried to dig up was his father or not.

How do you think Michael May should be punished for digging up his father’s grave?
