Tiger Woods And Nick Faldo In Heated Exchange Of Words

Tiger Woods has been no stranger to criticism over the past 3 years.

Just days after taking a bashing from a few of the newest golf Hall of Fame inductees, the former worlds #1 golfer is hearing it yet again from none other than that great Nick Faldo.

Originally sparking controversy when Faldo had stated that he felt Woods had lost all self belief, Woods responded in character with a very simple remark, stating that critics were “not in my head” and “they must have some kind of superpower I don’t know about.”

However, following Woods’ opening round of 2-over par at The Players Championship, Faldo wasn’t hesitant to open the floodgates a little bit more by speaking with The Golf Channel during their broadcast of the event.

“I hated it when analysts and commentators were saying, `He’s thinking this. He’s thinking that. But this analyst here, I’ve walked the walk. I’ve been there and the bit I’m trying to describe is self-belief. I’ve had self-belief when I was playing my best and I also lost self-belief, and that’s obviously when you get to the end of your career. I can generally recognize when a player is on the range, striping it, which Tiger’s been doing basically all season. But for a player, if you cannot walk from the practice ground to the first tee … for me, he doesn’t have the self-belief he really needs.”

That walk that Faldo is referring could have something to do with his three Open Championship wins, three Masters Tournament wins, as well as his total of 98 weeks spent atop the Official World Golf Rankings as the #1 golfer in the world.

Either way, it should be interesting to see if Faldo’s words of encouragement give Tiger that boost he’s looking for this weekend.

Do you think Tiger Woods and Nick Faldo’s remarks will go further?
