WWE News: Big Mixed Tag-Team At ‘Night Of Champions’ With Rusev And Dolph Ziggler?

A feud turned the corner last night on WWE RAW. Near the end of the show, Rusev and Mark Henry came out for another match. Rusev had his valet, Summer Rae, by his side. The former-United States champion defeated Henry in a quick match. After the bout ended, Rusev unveiled his Bulgarian flag that has his face right in the middle. The WWE Creative team had a plan the entire time.

During the match, Lana was on commentary, and proclaimed that she had a long-term plan all along. Once Rusev got the pin and the flag dropped, Rusev and Summer Rae started to walk to the back, and Lana got into the WWE ring and called them both out. Rae obliged, and was then slapped by Lana.

Rusev then got into the ring and just before anything occurred, Dolph Ziggler’s music hit and the WWE Universe erupted. Both superkicked each others’ rival, and the Show-Off completed his comeback. In an earlier report by the Inquisitr, it was rumored that Ziggler wouldn’t be back for WWE SummerSlam.

Clearly, plans changed, and Rusev will face Ziggler in a singles’ match at SummerSlam. However, will the WWE continue this feud past the “Biggest Party of the Summer?” According to Cageside Seats, this feud is about to have Lana and Summer Rae finally face-off in a ring.

“WWE may be planning a mixed tag match with Dolph Ziggler & Lana vs. Rusev & Summer Rae at Night of Champions.”

Judging by the last few weeks of this feud, Lana is developing her babyface character, and it’s going over smoothly with the WWE Universe. There are consistent “We Want Lana” chants in nearly every arena. She’s paired up with Summer Rae and Rusev, who are playing great heels. Lastly, Lana has Dolph Ziggler, one of the most-over WWE superstars on the roster.

The reaction Ziggler got last night was deafening. Aside from the pop Brock Lesnar got last night, Ziggler was No. 2 on WWE RAW in terms of reaction. Having a mixed tag-team match at Night of Champions makes perfect sense. It doesn’t rush the feud, but it also gives Lana time to learn more moves than just a superkick and a slap in the face.

To her credit, though, she’s adapting to this new role in the WWE very well. She’s slowly losing the Russian accent, as it’s not really necessary anymore. Rusev’s attempt to replace Lana with Summer Rae added another element to the program. Dolph Ziggler is also key, especially due to his emphatic return. WWE SummerSlam will just be another layer to add in a feud that will culminate at Night of Champions.
