‘Back To The Future’ Hoverboard Now A Reality

It was never fair that Marty McFly, played by Michael J. Fox in Back To The Future, was the only one with a hoverboard. It was that one item everyone wanted after watching Back To The Future. Now it looks like the hoverboard has now become a reality. Thanks to Lexus, we finally have proof of this concept that Lexus had been working on. Lexus’ hoverboard — named Slide — is a skateboard-like device that hovers a few inches above the ground.

Tested in a custom skate park, the use of magnets, super cooled conductors, and liquid nitrogen have created the beginnings of something really awesome. It would be great to see where this goes. The best part about this hoverboard it can even work over water, something Marty McFly’s hoverboard couldn’t do.

Pro skateboarder Ross McGouran was the lucky individual to test out the board.

“Everything I knew about skating went out the window” said the professional skateboarder. Ross McGouran’s ride and more about the slide can be found on the video attached. So get your feel of the Slide by Lexus because this bad boy is something that can’t be purchased, at least not yet.

In a related article by the Inquisitr, Lexus said “They partnered with world leading experts in super conductive technology to create one of the most advanced Hoverboards ever developed.”

According to Lexus, the board only works on a metallic surface and they are actively working on building a skate park specifically for demonstration purposes only in Cubelles, a few miles away from Barcelona, Spain.

Also in a recent report by El Patín, the futuristic Lexus skate Park is currently under construction and is being monitored by private security everyday.

Mark Templin, executive vice president of Lexus International, spoke about how Lexus constantly challenge themselves and their partners to push the boundaries of what is possible. That determination, combined with their passion and design for innovation, is what led to the Hoverboard Project.

“It was the perfect example of the amazing things that can be achieved when you combine technology, design and imagination.”

According to a recent report by Bloomberg Business, more information will be made available by Lexus on October 21, 2015, which happens to be the date Marty, Doc, and Jennifer traveled to in Back to the Future Part II.

We are now living in the times where sci-fi movies are becoming a reality. What do you think of Lexus Hoverboard?
