Honeymoon Destinations Of The Stars
Celebs always seem to be one step ahead of everyone else when it comes to having the inside scoop, so it’s no surprise that stars also have the best weddings, followed immediately by jetting off to enjoy some of the best honeymoon destinations in the world.
Island Escapes: Seychelles, Polynesia & Mexico
It’s really not surprising that many celebs count gorgeous beaches, warm tropical weather, and clear turquoise waters as “must haves” when searching for the world’s best honeymoon destinations. From the remote island chain known as the Seychelles, to the pristine golden sandy shores of Bora Bora in French Polynesia, to the dramatic Pacific coast of Mexico, stars love to honeymoon in style.
Officially known as the republic of Seychelles, this 115-island nation is one of the world’s least known honeymoon destinations… Or it was, until Prince William and Kate Middleton came to its 11- villa North Island Resort following their much-publicized wedding. Since then, Hollywood heavyweight George Clooney also took his new bride Amal Alamuddin to the Seychelles for their honeymoon, sealing its budding reputation as one of the world’s best new “it” destinations.
Although it’s been on the radar among the world’s elite for many more years, Bora Bora also offers a pristine island experience for newlyweds. Most recently, Jennifer Aniston and Justin Theroux headed to Bora Bora after a surprise wedding in early August, while Academy Award-winning actress Nicole Kidman and her country music star husband Keith Urban also came here for their honeymoon in 2006.
A longtime favorite among beach destinations for American celebs, Mexico is also one of the top places for stars to honeymoon on the Pacific. Adam Brody and Gossip Girl Leighton Meester headed to the St. Regis Punta Mita resort in Riviera Nayarit, Mexico, following their wedding last year, followed just a few months later by Jessica Simpson and Eric Johnson.
European Charm: France, Ireland & Italy
Believe it or not, every newlywed celeb pair does not head immediately to some tropical paradise following their nuptials. Instead, some of the biggest stars have selected honeymoon destinations in some of Europe’s most fabulous regions, such as Paris, France; Cork, Ireland; and the Amalfi Coast of Italy, the Telegraph Reports.
Paris is always a good idea, but it’s hard to beat as one of the world’s most romantic place to honeymoon destinations, and it commands the star power to prove it. Reese Witherspoon and husband Jim Toth came here first after tying the knot, Destination Wedding magazine reports, along with Isla Fisher and satirist Sacha Baron Cohen, as well as British singer Lily Allen and painter Sam Cooper.
After an opulent wedding in Florence, Italy, Kim Kardashian and Kanye West spent their honeymoon in Cork, Ireland, at the Castlemartry Resort, which is home to an impressive 18th century manor house that is built next to the ruins of an 800-year-old castle. Sex and the City star Sarah Jessica Parker and her husband actor Matthew Broderick also headed to Ireland for their honeymoon, staying in the Mount Errigal hotel in Letterkenney, Donegal.
Upon leaving Paris, newlywed pair Reese Witherspoon and Jim Toth continued their European jaunt, heading south to the Amalfi Coast of Italy, staying in the colorful seaside town of Positano at the posh Le Sirenuse hotel. Other celebs who have chosen to honeymoon on the Amalfi Coast include Anna Paquin and Stephen Moyer, as well as Lauren Bush (niece of former President George W. Bush) and David Lauren (son of designer Ralph Lauren).
