‘Star Wars’ PS4 Bundles Feature Darth Vader, ‘Battlefront,’ ‘Disney Infinity,’ And More

An all new PlayStation 4 bundle featuring Darth Vader for two different Star Wars-themed games was revealed during the Disney D23 conference on Sunday. Sony is aiming for two completely different demographics with this new bundle that comes with either Star Wars: Battlefront or Disney Infinity 3.0 plus three classic Star Wars titles from the PS2-era and one from the Super NES.

The Star Wars: Battlefront and Disney Infinity 3.0 PlayStation 4 bundles both come with an image of Darth Vader on the side/top of the console along with “Star Wars” etched across. There is also a themed DualShock 4 controller. The color scheme on the buttons for the controller may look a little off at first until you realize that they are meant to match the control panel filled with switches and buttons on Vader’s chest plate.

The Deluxe Edition of Battlefront edition of the Star Wars PS4 bundle is included. This is the one that comes with instant access to various weapons like Han Solo’s blaster plus a couple of exclusive emotes.

Meanwhile, the Disney Infinity 3.0 PS4 bundle will be available exclusively at Walmart. It comes with a physical copy of Disney Infinity 3.0 Edition, the Disney Infinity base, the Rise Against the Empire Play Set Pack featuring Luke and Leia figures, as well as the timed PlayStation exclusive Boba Fett figure.

Both bundles come with digital vouchers to download four older titles — Super Star Wars, Star Wars: Racer Revenge, Star Wars: Jedi Starfighter, and Star Wars Bounty Hunter. The first was originally released on the Super NES while the latter three launched on the PlayStation 2.

This isn’t a hint that backwards compatibility is coming to the PlayStation 4 like it is with the Xbox One. Instead, all four games have been ported to the current gen console with enhanced graphics and Trophy support. Perhaps disappointingly, this bundle is the 500GB version of the PS4. The bright side, however, is this is the new CUH-1200 model that is a little more energy efficient and quieter. A price for both Star Wars PS4 bundles hasn’t been announced yet. The Destiny: The Taken King PS4 bundle is coming for $400. These Star Wars bundles are packed with a little more content though. The final price will likely be between $400 and $450, but this article will be updated when a price is revealed.

The Star Wars PS4 bundles represent another interesting salvo in the console wars this holiday. The lineup of PlayStation 4 exclusive content through the end of the year is extremely light, as previously covered. Sony is banking on deals with third-party to help keep its console sales going while Microsoft has invested in multiple Xbox One bundles featuring its exclusive titles.
