Marriage is about wanting to work hard on a relationship and sharing your life with the person you love and adore! Nowhere does it say that marriage is about PENIS & VAGINA! Some of us would rather have a close friend by our side in a hospital setting than a family member. But without equal rights we can't. Equal rights granted in Marriage would allow that for many. In a regular marriage, the only "person" with any say in it, is the government. THey decide who and who can't. Many men in the old testament could take up to 30 wives and 3 score concubines ( 3 score = 60) but they were also head financially responsible for all those women plus their children. As for Paul's teachings I don't follow Paul as he was not one of the Original followers, never met Jesus and came after the death of Jesus. In fact the one follower I tend to follow is Thomas who's book was eliminated by the fake leaders two centuries after the death of Christ. Thomas wrote ONLY on the sayings of Jesus. Thomas recorded everything Jesus said and therefore I find his book to be the TRUE word of Christ's teachings. NO where in the Book of Thomas does Jesus say anything about same sex love. On the subject of LOVE Jesus said to love one another as I have loved you. You say to focus on the real issue here and bring in the Bible? Well If your going to open that door to the Bible than it is only fair to bring ALL Sin into the equation. For every time you bring up the man laying with man issue I can bring a dozen other sins just as great or greater. SIN IS SIN. The bible you keep quoting-it was written by man, and as with all views of religion and history it is written from the perception of the victor. If your going to come down on a single sin , you disagree with, then I am going to come back with a dozen others listed in your Precious Bible. God doesn't distinguish one sin from another. You borrow a neighbors shovel than don't return it to them, that is stealing and a sin. God doesn't say that you can take one sin and use it to cover your own sins to make it look like another sin is greater. All sin is an abomination to GOD. So before you attack another for a sin they do, take a look at your own sins you commit. In the Bible is says; Pluck the plank out of your own eye before you remove the stick from another. NO ONE IS PERFECT. But what I do know is that when it comes to judgement day it will be GOD that judges us not any human here on earth. As for a woman that has an abortion, or a man wanting a lasting loving relationship with another man, or a woman wanting a lasting Loving relationship with another woman, or a person not wanting to believe in the existence of GOD. NO ONE has the right to pass judgement. I refuse to Judge anyone because I know not what God's will is for anyone else but for me.Just as I believe no one can save my soul but me. As for the issue of the freedom of two people coming together in LOVE, be they man/woman, man/man or woman/woman I believe that all should have equal and same rights that are granted by MAN'S LAW under relationship status, because the rights granted under Marriage are Man's rights and not stated in the Bible. The Bible says nothing about joint taxation, joint health care, Who gets to decide the care you get in case of hospitalization, Who gets property upon death. All those things were determined by MAN not GOD. Therefore it should be Man's LAW and Not God's LAW that determines equality for couples living as couples with or without a piece of paper stating relationship status. As for marriage I learned long ago that today's image of Marriage is one big farce. It is very rare that I have seen couples remain in a commitment marriage without ever having cheated, lied or commiting some sin against their own partners. Marriage is a piece of paper that means nothing to more people than I can count, especially when one or the other gets bored and wants out. I have seen marriages that hold true to the vows and commitments but they are RARE and far between. When I see someone like Newt Gingrich who has been married to three different women I see someone that makes a joke of the sanctity of Marriage. When I see someone like Rush Limbaugh married 4 times it tells me that the Sanctity of Marriage is a joke. When you set your wife aside for no other good reason because you want a younger version that is a joke too. When you set your husband aside for a richer version that too is a joke. How many marriages end when the man earns his degree, establishes a well paying career and dumps his wife for his secretary? How many trophy wives exist today? How many children are left fatherless not because of death but because the father wanted greener pastures? How many wives invite their lovers in after the husband goes to work? All are so called examples of the Sanctity of Marriage we see today. Trust me, I have seen them all. For that reason alone I chose not to play the Marriage charade. I would think that God would see two loving people that understand the meaning of coming together, to remain together as more of joining than those examples above. To commit comes from the soul, not a piece of paper or a ceremony done to say; LOOK AT ME. Just as praying is done in private so too is the commiting of the soul to one another. I don't need to prove my love to any one but the one I choose to spend my life with. The sincerity within my heart is conformation that I have God's blessing. I don't need society's approval. All that other stuff is just show. What that Marriage certificate does do is tell the Government I am entitled to Rights as any other couple joined together in relationship status.
