New WhatsApp Download Saves Users’ Messages, But Causes Google Drive Backup Feature To Disappear

The new WhatsApp download is available. It includes new features like the ability to save your messages. But it’s also causing problems when it comes to integrating with the Google Drive Backup feature.

WhatsApp has quickly become one of the most popular apps for sending and receiving free calls and messages. WhatsApp developers released an updated version of the application with new features and improved features.

The developers announced that they would release a new version of the popular app for Android users. The new WhatsApp application is only available in beta versions since it hasn’t yet been released to the Google Play Store.

“WhatsApp download 2.12.228 is the latest version of the app released on Android devices. This is however rolled out in BETA version. This means, you cannot find it on the Google Play Store and to get it, you have to head over to the official website of WhatsApp.”

There appears to be some conflicting reports with the beta version of WhatsApp. Some media outlets have referred to it as WhatsApp 2.12.231 BETA for Android, while others call it WhatsApp 2.12.228 APK. Other reports say that it’s only available on Android Lollipop 5.0 and above, while others say it’s not yet available on Google Play.

The new version of WhatsApp has brought some major improvements when it comes to common bugs and issues associated with the application. In addition, the APK file size has increased by 5KB. The new version of WhatsApp also comes with 23 modified files such as the about.xml file and the activity_google_drive_restore.xml.

This new feature allows users to save their messages and content onto Google Drive. Common complaints and issues with the application is that messages, photos, or videos would disappear, especially if a user’s phone is lost or stolen. WhatsApp has collaborated with Google to store these important files in the Google Cloud. That means the user can download all of the content in their old messages without losing anything.

Users can backup their messages to the cloud by going to WhatsApp’s Settings > Chat and Calls > Chat Backup and then tap the “Backup” button. The user will then have to give permission for WhatsApp and Google Drive to backup the contents of the message onto the cloud.

There was an issue associated with the feature. Some users have noted that the Google Drive Backup option would disappear, even if only temporarily. Meanwhile, other users have noticed that their backed up messages would also disappear. WhatsApp’s developers assure its users that Google Drive Backup hasn’t disappeared from the app. The team also announced that they’re still ironing out some bugs associated with the BETA app, which is why some users see Google Drive, others not.

Meanwhile, some beta versions of WhatsApp may not have the issue. This information also confirms that there may be more than one beta version of the application. Users just need to install WhatsApp and sign in with their Google account information to display the feature and to restore their data.

After downloading and installing WhatsApp, the app will allow your device to make and receive calls over the internet. As previously reported via the Inquisitr, the company may consider adding paid services. WhatsApp’s developers are also in the process of increasing the quality of its video calling service.
