Hailee Steinfeld: Taylor Swift’s BFF Releases Video For Self-Love Anthem ‘Love Myself’
Hailee Steinfeld is all grown up and has a new music video to prove it. The Pitch Perfect 2 star premiered her video for her empowering new single, “Love Myself.” It apparently already has her best friend, Taylor Swift’s approval.
Hailee Steinfeld, 18, released her new song “Love Myself,” which is kind of a self-love anthem. Although the video itself is not racy, the lyrics are very sexual in nature. Steinfeld sings that she’s going to love herself any time that she feels like it.
The lyrics also go, “I’m gonna touch the pain the way. I know how to scream my own name. Scream my name.”
Hailee also sings that she’s “going to love herself so hard until it hurts.”
Directed by Hannah Lux Davis, the video showcases the singer and actress dancing around on top of a building and through the busy streets of New York City. Hailee debuted the music video for her debut single on the Today Show on Friday, August 14.
Steinfeld also rocks a variety of edgy looks in the music video. She’s seen wearing a black bodysuit that displays the words “Self Service,” paired with a boyfriend blazer and over-the-knee boots. In addition, Steinfeld wears a silver sequin hoodie, a black crop top and leather skirt, and a sophisticated black bralet with a glitzy gold skirt.
The singer dropped the video’s release by including the hashtag #LoveMyselfMusicVideo. According to a previous report via the Hollywood Life, Hailee’s tweet received over 1,000 retweets within 15 hours.
Taylor Swift is often known as America’s Sweetheart, but it appears that she approves of Steinfeld’s self-pleasure anthem. When asked what her “Bad Blood” BFF thinks of her new song, Steinfeld said she was nervous to have Swift listen to the song.
“I’m nervous to show her any of my movies, but yeah, she’s very supportive. Music is always something that I wanted to do. It’s always been a part of my plan and it’s always been a matter of when and now is when.”
Hailee Steinfeld also revealed that she’s willing to come back for the third installment of the Pitch Perfect franchise. She told E! News that she’s wants to come back to the musical franchise after showcasing her singing chops in the second movie.
Steinfeld responded excitedly, “I’m in. I can’t wait! It’s all happening.”
Hailee Steinfeld’s “Love Myself” has been at the top of the Top 40 on the Mediabase airplay charts, according to Headline Planet. Since its debut on August 7, it’s received more 772 plays on pop radio. Hailee’s single is expected to get guarantee play on iHeartMedia radio pop stations, Miami’s Hits 97.3, and Radio Disney, even with its racy lyrics.
She’s currently working in the studio on her debut album with Captain Cuts, Harvey Mason, Mattman & Robin from MXM, The Futuristics. Steinfeld landed a record deal with Republic Records in May, 2015. However, the release date for Hailee’s debut album hasn’t been announced as of yet.
