Taylor Swift, Lana Del Rey Get ‘High’ On The ‘Billboard’ Charts
Taylor Swift and Lana Del Rey are taking over the Billboard charts with their new ethereal singles. Both singers have made some big announcements about their upcoming singles.
Taylor Swift previously announced that “Wildest Dreams” will become the fifth official single off her current album, 1989. Since announcing the song, Swift has already found herself in the top spot with the new single. She holds onto the No. 1 spot thanks to the popularity over “Wildest Dreams.” The song soared to the top of the Trending 140, where it held the position for over four hours.

Lana is also topping high on the charts. The swoon-worthy singer announced that the next single off her upcoming album, Honeymoon, is “High By the Beach.” Not only did Lana announce her new song, but she also released it on YouTube and premiered her new music video in the same week.
Now Del Rey currently sits below Swift at No. 4. The pop crooner revealed her new track on Monday, Aug. 10, and the video has received more than 2.2 million views on YouTube. Del Rey’s new video for “High By the Beach” also has over 1 million views. This song follows the single “Honeymoon,” off her third studio album of the same name.
Lana Del Rey’s Honeymoon is the follow-up to her chart-topping album Ultraviolence. As previously reported via the Inquisitr, her new album will be released on Sept. 18, as hinted in her recent Instagram post.
Lana and Taylor share something in common. The singer-songwriters know what it takes to write a hit. Lana’s Ultraviolence earned the largest album sales in a week for a female artist back in June 2014. Then Taylor stole that title when her 1989 album came out in October 2014. The “Bad Blood” singer’s album also became the best-selling album of 2015. It’s also the best-selling vinyl record of 2015. In fact, it help send vinyl record sales through the roof.
Now fans are wondering if Del Rey will steal the title back from Swift, when her album is released in the later part of the summer. Del Rey’s music is a hit and has contributed to the increase in vinyl record sales. Her new album, Honeymoon, will be released on compact disc, vinyl record, and in digital format.
The comparisons will continue as Taylor is rumored to release her music video for “Wildest Dreams” in September. Fans have compared the breathy single to Lana Del Rey’s “Without You,” when the album was released last year. Some would say that Taylor’s new song is the most sexual- and mature-sounding song off the album with lyrics like, “His hands are in my hair, his clothes are in my room.”
