D23 Expo: A Look Inside, ‘Toy Story 4’ Happening?

Disney’s D23 Expo is now in full swing in the Anaheim Convention Center, and will be continuing on through the weekend until this Sunday, August 16. Even though D23 isn’t over yet, this hasn’t stopped speculation about the new stuff Disney has in store for its consumers. According to rumors, there may be some information on the fourth Toy Story, but that’s likely not the only surprise Disney has in store for fans at D23 (did you really think they’d stop at one?).

Io9 predicted D23 expo goers would also see new footage from Marvel’s Captain America:Civil War, as well as from Finding Dory, the sequel to 2003’s Finding Nemo. Disney-Pixar tweeted a picture hinting that a third Cars, as well as a sequel to the superhero flick, The Incredibles, would also be revealed during the D23 Expo. In addition to a Cars threequel, Disney also launched the successful spin-off Planes in 2013.

SlashFilm.com discovered that the film presentation will be made later today at D23, and also found some of the D23 expo teaser posters for Toy Story 4 and The Incredibles 2. The site added that little is known about the third Cars movie at the moment.

While there were hints dropped about several new movies at D23, Disney was oddly quiet about details on Star Wars: Episode VII, as Inquisitr noticed. What we did get info on from D23 was that John Lasseter (who directed the first two Cars movies), will be at the helm again for Toy Story 4. Tom Hanks and Tim Allen will be returning to play everyone’s favorite cowboy/space ranger duo, Woody and Buzz Lightyear (respectively). Toy Story 4 will be opening in theaters June of 2017. Finding Dory is set for 2016, and will again be directed by Andrew Stanton, who also wrote the original and follow-up stories.

As Variety noted, Johnny Depp also made a surprise appearance at D23. The site mentioned that Depp and Star Wars creator George Lucas were inducted as “Disney Legends” during an annual ceremony at D23. The final moments of D23 wrap up at 7:00 p.m. Pacific Time with an event centered around Radio Disney. Let us know which D23 announcement and movie premieres you’re most excited about in the comments below.
