‘Toy Story 4’ Storyline Revealed: Woody Finds True Love

Toy Story fans will be excited to hear that the Toy Story 4 storyline has been revealed. Woody, the toy cowboy, will finally find his true love.

According to CNBC, Disney Chief Creative Officer John Lasseter confirmed on Friday that Toy Story 4 will be about Woody falling in love with a doll from a nursery rhyme.

“It’s a love story with Woody and — and this is news — Bo Peep.”

The Toy Story 4 love story may not be a direct continuation from Toy Story’s third installment, but moviegoers will be able to see it in 2017.

Tom Hanks is the voice of the wooden cowboy, Woody. Annie Potts was the voice of Bo Peep, but it is unknown whether she will return to the cast of Toy Story 4.

The Toy Story saga has largely been successful. Lasseter believes the success is due to making sequels that are better than the movies preceding them, according to ComicBook.com.

“At Pixar and at Disney, we only make sequels if we come up with a story that’s as good or better than the original. That’s our rule. We don’t do things just to print money.”

Toy Story and its two sequels have already earned $2 billion at the international box office. Toy Story was the first feature-length computer-animated film, and it was made by Pixar. Disney bought Pixar in 2006.

Disney and Pixar have been hard at work on other sequels to popular movies as well. Finding Nemo and The Incredibles will have sequels for fans to enjoy in the near future.

As for the Toy Story 4 storyline, Woody finding true love with Bo Peep will allow the audience to get to know Bo Peep a lot better than ever before. Woody is already a familiar character to Toy Story fans, and he has been a main character in all of the Toy Story movies. It is unknown whether Buzz Lightyear, voiced by Tim Allen, will have a prominent role in Toy Story 4, but it is expected that he will have his own romance in the movie.

Lee Unkrich, the editor of Toy Story and Toy Story 2 and co-director of Toy Story 2, initially said, “Well, we don’t have any plans for Toy Story 4. I’m flattered that people ask about it—it reminds me how much people love the characters, but it was really important to me with this film that we not just create another sequel, that it not just be another appendage coming off of the other two.”

Later Unkrich said, “[T]here may be opportunities for Woody and Buzz in the future, but we don’t have any plans for anything right now.”

Thankfully for people who love the Toy Story franchise, plans materialized into Toy Story 4 and have been confirmed.
