WWE News: WWE Superstar Roman Reigns Talks Praising Daniel Bryan And Respecting The WWE Universe
Over the last year and a half, only a couple of men have gotten a bigger response from the WWE Universe than Roman Reigns. As if winning the 2015 Royal Rumble wasn’t enough, the WWE arguably forced him down the throats of fans all over the world. Even though his push was anticipated, he still wasn’t over with the fans as much as the WWE thought.
That’s exactly why he didn’t win the WWE World Heavyweight championship at WrestleMania 31. Instead, Seth Rollins cashed in his Money in the Bank briefcase and won the championship. WWE fans sometimes take their hatred for WWE superstars too seriously. That took place during a WWE live event when someone threw a briefcase at Roman Reigns’ head.
It’s not like Reigns personally offended the fan. He just doesn’t like Reigns. The 2015 Royal Rumble winner is about being open with the WWE fans. In a recent interview with Sports Illustrated, Reigns talked about the fans and one WWE superstar in particular, Daniel Bryan.
“Our fanbase is so hardcore and smart, and knows the history. It’s almost like the underground in rap music. There is always the underground rapper people enjoy, and you want to see him come up. That’s kind of how it is in wrestling. There’s a lot of guys on the indies with the tight following from those hardcore fans, and this is that time for me to build to that respect and let people know I’m here to win, I’m here to kill it every single night.
“Bryan is the best. If anybody says any different, they’re an idiot. You can learn anything from him. I got to work a lot with him with the Shield–that was like the band with those six man matches [against Bryan, Kane, and Ryback], we were doing those every night. So I had plenty of chemistry and experience with Bryan. He is such a journeyman with so much experience, and that’s a key ingredient to what we do — just logging in those man-hours. Bryan is a journeyman, and he’s one of the few that we have, with Seth and Dean also in that category. He’s just so smart. He has a great take on everything, and he doesn’t just think about his product. He thinks of the grand scheme of things in the WWE world, and he’s a privilege to be around, not only in the ring but also as a person. The last European tour was a great tour, sitting on the back of the bus with Bryan in a conversation for an hour-and-a-half covering everything under the sun — we talked about from evolution to lotions to how to treat swelling. He has so much knowledge on life. I feel very blessed to made a friend with Daniel Bryan.”
Daniel Bryan knows how blessed he is, in fact, he even talked about the WWE fans being able to change the WWE’s plans. That’s what took place at WrestleMania 30. Ironically, that same thing happened to Roman Reigns this year.
Reigns doesn’t deserve the hatred he gets from the WWE Universe. He may not work as well as the Rock, but Reigns is doing just fine with his program alongside Dean Ambrose. Together, they sometimes get the biggest pop each night. At SummerSlam, they will take on Bray Wyatt and Luke Harper. Despite Wyatt’s popularity, Reigns and Ambrose will get the most out of the WWE Universe. That’s not going to change overnight.
