Kickoff time is set for 7:45 p.m. British Summer Time at Villa Park in Birmingham, England. The start times in United States time zones will be 2:45 p.m. Eastern, 11:45 a.m. Pacific.

Both teams are coming off opening week victories, both by scores of 1-0. But while Manchester United scored their win over Tottenham Hotspur, last season’s fifth-place finisher who have top four aspirations this year, Aston Villa recorded their victory against newly promoted Bournemouth.

Manchester United would appear to be a good bet to win the Friday game in history is any indicator. Since the end of the last century, these two teams have met in 31 league games, with a possible 93 points at stake. Manchester United has collected 84 of those points, to just nine for Aston Villa since May of 2000.

For Manchester United, the drama surrounding Spanish goalkeeper David De Gea continues, as the 24-year-old is still being actively courted by his hometown club, Real Madrid, and apparently feels too distracted to play for the second week in a row.

According to a report by BBC Sports, De Gea told the Manchester United coaching staff that he was “not eager to play,” and felt “not 100 percent focused” this week. As a result, Manager Louis Van Gaal has elected to sit De Gea again in favor or Argentine Sergio Romero — who kept a clean sheet against Spurs at home.

In fact, unless his possible move to Real Madrid becomes reality, De Gea will likely see no action at least until after the summer transfer window closes, which for the Spanish league will be August 31. The England window stays open until September 1 at 6 p.m. British Summer Time.
