Child Rape Victim Gives Birth After Stepdad Rapes Her

A child rape victim in Paraguay has given birth at the young age of 11-years-old, and now her mother is behind bars on various charges associated with the crimes committed against the little girl. WESH News Orlando reports that the child was sexually assaulted by her stepfather, which resulted in her pregnancy.

A manhunt is currently underway for the child’s stepfather, Gilberto Benitez Zárate. The man has not yet been apprehended, but her unidentified mother has been arrested and charged with child neglect and complicity, indicating that she had been aware of the rape of her own child. At the most, the charge indicates far worse than simply knowing about the rape. The woman could be accused of allowing her husband to assault the little girl.

The Times reports that the 42-year-old stepfather was arrested earlier this year for raping and impregnating her when she was only 10-years-old. Previous reports had incorrectly described her as his biological daughter, but recent reports have confirmed that the child rape victim is the man’s stepdaughter.

The baby was born by cesarean section and reportedly weighed around six pounds. Health officials say that both the young mother and her newborn child are healthy and being cared for permanently. The birth of the child comes after reports that Paraguay officials had blocked the girl’s ability to seek an abortion.

This isn’t the first time a child rape case resulted in pregnancy. In fact, cases like these take place all over the world, including in the United States. Meanwhile, stats indicate that most crimes against children are committed by persons known to the child, such as custodial parents or other family members.
