WWE Rumors: Card For ‘Night Of Champions’ Already Shaping Up — Sting, Wyatt Family, John Cena, More

With WWE SummerSlam a little over a week away, the company is already looking ahead to some future events. Rumor has it that The Undertaker will be at Survivor Series, and plans for WrestleMania 32 are possibly already in the works, too. Well, it looks as if the card for Night of Champions in September is also being discussed, and Sting could make his long-awaited return then.

The Wrestling Observer is reporting that the original SummerSlam plans for Sting may be pushed over into Night of Champions.

Sting had gotten himself into really good shape, as WWE had all intention of having him on the card for SummerSlam. They were going to partner him up with Dean Ambrose and Roman Reigns to face off with The Wyatt Family.

Well, that plan had just been recently called off, and WrestleZone is reporting that Sting was pulled from the event because they already had enough star power on it. With Brock Lesnar, John Cena, The Undertaker, and Stephen Amell appearing, WWE Network’s numbers should do fine without “The Vigilante” showing up.

If that’s the case and Sting really isn’t brought back at SummerSlam, then the six-man tag may be moved to Night of Champions.

By the time that Night of Champions would come about, Erick Rowan should be back from injury and make The Wyatt Family complete. This would allow for the six-man feud with Sting, Ambrose, and Reigns without a new member needing to be added to the Wyatts.

There have been rumors of a few options for a third member of the Wyatts, but none of them have come to be. First, all the speculation was on that of Bo Dallas, and then moved onto Adam Rose turning back into Leo Kruger to join the Wyatts.

The return of Erick Rowan would make things simpler and have an established feud in place.

Other matches already rumored for Night of Champions are as follows.

  • WWE Title – Seth Rollins vs. John Cena (stipulation to be added)
  • Divas Title – Nikki Bella vs. Charlotte
  • WWE Tag Titles – Prime Time Players vs. Lucha Dragons
  • WWE IC Title – Ryback vs. Cesaro vs. Kevin Owens

SummerSlam is going to be a huge event, but it’s interesting to already look forward and see what could come at Night of Champions. That is especially true if Sting finally returns to a WWE ring and prepares for his second match.
