Rosie Perez Quit ‘The View’ Early Because Of Kelly Osbourne: Or Did She?

Rosie Perez quit The View early because of Kelly Osbourne’s insensitive remarks about Latinos – at least, that’s the narrative suggested by a Daily Mail report and picked up on by other media outlets. But not so fast, say sources close to the show; they claim that Rosie’s exit from The View was planned and expected and had nothing to do with Kelly Osbourne. Clearly, it will take some doing to sort all of this out.

As previously reported by The Inquisitr, an almost painfully awkward exchange took place on The View last week, when the subject of Donald Trump came up on the show. Trump, you may recall, has made some rather pointed remarks about Latinos throughout his campaign for president, at one time saying that Mexicans entering the country are “murderers,” “drug dealers,” and “rapists.” When Trump’s name came up, Osbourne had this to say:

“In what way does he think that people are going to vote for him after he’s just called them rapists and murderers? If you kick every Latino out of this country, then who is going to be cleaning your toilets, Donald Trump?”

Kelly’s words shocked her co-hosts and the audience, perhaps no one more so than Rose Perez, who is Latin. Perez argued with Kelly, who then tried to backtrack from her words, before the exchange was forgotten about, and the show moved on. Then, at the end of the show, Rosie apologized for coming down so hard on her co-host, then apologized again on Twitter.

In a Tuesday report, The Daily Mail alleges that Rosie Perez was forced to apologize by the ABC producers, and in response, Rose quit The View early in anger over the whole situation.

“Daily Mail Online has learned that ABC executives then gathered in Rosie’s room and demanded that she tweet an apology to her co-star. She told them: ‘I’ve already done more than enough by apologizing on air,’ before a loud argument took place. The source added: ‘She and the ABC executives had it out. She was yelling at them at the top of her lungs that their demands were disrespectful.”

To be fair, The Daily Mail‘s source is anonymous, so it’s impossible to back up those claims. As it happens, though, another anonymous source has spoken to E! Online, stating that Rosie’s exit from The View was planned and expected.

“Rosie’s days off were scheduled the day before Kelly was a guest on The View. What she said at the end of the show and what she tweeted to Kelly were entirely genuine. No one made her do anything. And she and Kelly spoke after the show.”

And as for all that crying and screaming The Daily Mail alleges? That was Kelly Osbourne, say the sources, who was upset with herself and not Rosie Perez.

“Kelly was having a complete meltdown. She was the one screaming and crying.”

Rosie Perez, for her part, isn’t speaking out about whether or not she quit The View early. However, she’s backed away – somewhat – from her apology, posting a series of tweets apologizing, in a way, for her apology.

NOTE: “Boricua” is a term that means “Puerto Rican,” and “mi gente” is Spanish for “my people.”

Do you believe that Rosie Perez quit The View early because of Kelly Osbourne or was a minor disagreement, coupled with bad timing, blown out of proportion?
