Comedian Robert Schimmel Arrested for Beating his Wife

Comedian Robert Schimmel was arrested Saturday on suspicion of spousal assault.

Police responded to a call at Schimmel’s Calabasas, CA home early Saturday after an alleged fight broke out between him and his wife. Schimmel was taken into custody and charged with spousal assault following the incident. He was later released on $50,000 bail.

Robert Schimmel, 59, is a noted stand up comic whose material is X-rated and controversial, often referring to sex, whether he is discussing computers, his daughter, or animals. He is perhaps best known for his comedy albums and his appearances on HBO and The Howard Stern Show. He has also appeared several times on Conan O’Brien’s show.
