One Direction: Niall Horan Talks ‘Drag Me Down’, The Band’s Success And Nude Selfies

One Direction’s Niall Horan never expected the UK boy band to be a success after they appeared on the ITV show The X Factor, the 21-year-old shared with DJ Scott Mills of the Radio 1 Breakfast Show during a live chat.

“We always talk about it, which is a good thing. We didn’t realize,” Horan stated. “We thought we’d do a bit in the UK and trip around a little bit. Things have changed. It’s pretty good, there’s nothing to complain about really.” Adding, “I don’t think you can describe it too easily but it’s been amazing so far.”

Horan’s comments about One Direction’s success comes just one week after the boy band of Horan, Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson, and Liam Payne managed to break streaming records with their new single, “Drag Me Down.”

The song was a surprise to 1D fans, who streamed the song 2.03 million times in the UK within a one week span, according to the Metro. The single has reached No. 1 in 80 countries.

“When we dropped the single we didn’t really realise that was the reaction it was going to get,” Horan said. “You bring out music and never know what it’s [the reaction] going to be like, so to do it five years down the line and to have your most successful single now is pretty good.”

The song’s warm reception by fans was also a surprise, as it marked the first song released by the group without their former band mate Zayn Malik, who departed the band back in March. Horan was quick to move past comments made by Mills about Malik no longer being part of One Direction.

During Horan’s chat with Mills, the One Direction member also touched on the subject of naked selfies, telling Mills that he wasn’t game for sharing any personal snapshots of his physique.

“Oh no that is cringe and I definitely don’t have the body for nude selfies anyways,” Horan stated.

Shortly after making the comments, the hashtags #NiallYourBodyIsWonderful and #NiallYouHaveAPerfectBody began to trend, with fans sharing supportive messages about the One Direction star’s body.

Meanwhile, it has been rumored that One Direction filmed the video for “Drag Me Down” at the NASA Space Center in Houston, Texas, utilizing the space centre’s airfields, training equipment, and facilities in the upcoming video. The video was shot by Ben Winston.
