Anja Rubik’s Hip is the New Angie’s Leg

Do you remember the oh-so-hilarious Internet meme”Angie’s Leg” inspired by Angelina Jolie’s odd power-stance at the Oscars last February? If you’ve got 15 minutes to spare, Google it and have a good ol’ time. Done? Good. Now that you’re up to speed, I’d like to introduce you to Anja Rubik’s hip, which saw its debut last night at the Costume Institute Gala.

Jolie treated us to an all-access view of her right leg when she slipped it through the thigh-high slit on her Versace gown, once on the red carpet, and again while presenting an award. Rubik, wearing a dress from Anthony Vaccarello’s risqué spring 2012 collection, sported a thigh-high that went a lot-a-bit higher. The white silk dress opened all the way up to Rubik’s hip bone, leaving very little to the imagination, and answering anyone asking whether or not she was wearing underwear with a fleshy “NO”.

The 28-year-old Polish model is currently turning tricks as the face of Fendi and Elie Saab fragrances and the Karl by Karl Lagerfeld line.

Just like “Angie’s Leg”, “Anja’s Hip” has taken social media by storm, with Twitter and Rubik sounding-off on all fronts, from surprise, to ridicule, even admiration. “Anja Rubik’s hip just took my eye out” wrote @AnastasiaDuck. Then @HuffPostStyle chimed in “We still can’t get over Anja Rubik’s dress: how was this NOT a wardrobe malfunction??”
