Man Officially Changes Name To “Tyrannosaurus Rex”

Changing your name isn’t a hard process, just fill out some paperwork, submit it to the court and follow a few more procedures and you are done. Tyler Gold, 23, recently decided the simple name change process would serve him well so he changed his name to….. Tyrannosaurus Rex.

When his friends ask Tyler can tell them his name means “tyrant lizard king”.

Tyler, I’m sorry I mean T-Rex, appeared in York County District Court in Nebraska on Monday morning to ask Judge Alan Gless for the strange name change.

In his filing with the court Gold said he wanted to change his name:

“Because the (T-Rex designation) is cooler. Also, as an entrepreneur, name recognition is important and the new name is more recognizable.”

Judge Gless made the man repeat his reason for the name change in front of the court while taking the witness stand.

The judge also asked if Gless was changing his name to hide from creditors or law enforcement which Gold claimed did not play a role in his decision.

Judge Gless then acknowledged that Gold had gone through all of the proper channels for changing his name, including a formal filing with the court and a notice publication in a local newspaper.

When Tyler Gold eventually left his hearing on Monday afternoon his new name legally became Tyrannosaurus Rex Joseph Gold.

Here’s to hoping that T-Rex’s business has something to do with archaeology or history because his new name probably won’t help him sell life insurance policies to the elderly.
