WWE News: Latest Update On The Official Card For WWE SummerSlam

WWE SummerSlam is right around the corner, and the match card is starting to take shape. Even though it’s only August 9, the WWE Creative team is either confirming matches already, or teasing them to make official in the next two weeks. They will get it done in time, but with a 4-hour show this year, it’ll be like creating a mini-WrestleMania card.

Whether they like it or not, filler will be needed. Unless they let John Cena and Seth Rollins go for 45 minutes, celebrities will make appearances, and possibly a WWE NXT superstar will show up. NXT Takeover is the night before in the same building.

That said, SEScoops has compiled the latest card for WWE SummerSlam.

– Brock Lesnar vs. The Undertaker

Champion vs. Champion, Winner Takes All
– WWE Champion Seth Rollins vs. US Champion John Cena

Triple Threat for the Intercontinental Championship
– The Miz vs. Big Show vs. Ryback

– Bray Wyatt and Luke Harper vs. Roman Reigns and Dean Ambrose

WWE SummerSlam is 4 hours long, and only four matches have been confirmed. Don’t fear, as WWE still has two more weeks to book fights for the card. In an earlier report by the Inquisitr, a retirement stipulation may be added to the Undertaker and Brock Lesnar match. That bout could go on for at least 30 minutes.

Cesaro and Kevin Owens will take place at SummerSlam. It’s only a matter of time before they come to blows on WWE RAW and a match is announced.

The Divas Revolution has to end up in a big match, with Nikki Bella defending her WWE Divas championship against one of the NXT women. Charlotte is the likely choice for the part, but WWE may go with a tag-team match that has two women from each stable in the match. Either way, the WWE Divas will put on a great show.

Other than that, which matches are set to take place? All of the rumors that Sting was going to compete at SummerSlam basically dissipated into WWE fans wanting him there. Some WWE analysts think Sting is necessary to make the event “bigger than WrestleMania,” as Paul Heyman said on WWE RAW.

Sting doesn’t need to be at SummerSlam, if the WWE can figure out more matches to put on. Neville and Stardust are close to confirmed, but they’re waiting for Stephen Amell to confront Stardust on WWE RAW tomorrow night. That will be the biggest celebrity involvement WWE will get this year. Is that still enough for a 4-hour SummerSlam show?
