ISIS members are reportedly selling sex slaves for $1, while it’s also been reported that they not only killed 19 women for not having sex with their soldiers, but they also celebrated the conclusion of Ramadan by giving jihadis sex slaves.
A Kurdish official, via the Daily Mail, claimed that these women who were murdered were from Mosul, Iraq, a city that ISIS claimed in June, 2014. Said Mimousini, a spokesperson for the Kurdish Democratic Party, told Iraqi News on Monday, “ISIS executed 19 women in the city of Mosul during the past two days.”
He then added that this was “the penalty decision” for their “refusal to participate in the practice of sexual jihad.”
Mimousini also explained that ISIS officials have actually been having a dispute over the distribution of money and women.
Speaking to Bloomberg, the UN special envoy’s Zaian Bangura, who made the trip to Iraq back in April, explained how she was provided with a pamphlet from ISIS that included a price list for purchasing children that they’d captured. This included a child aged one. According to Bangura, boys and girls aged between 1 and 9 are sold for $165. The older the women get, the lower the price for them.
Talking about the treatment of the women, Bangura explained, “The girls get peddled like barrels of petrol. One girl can be sold and bought by five or six different men. Sometimes these fighters sell the girls back to their families for thousands of dollars of ransom.”
The Daily Star have also reported that the Islamic State decided to celebrate the end of Ramadan by providing their jihadis with sex slaves, while also revealing that women are sold by the organization for just a $1.
According to Iraqi News, Risala Shirkani, a human rights activist, explained, courtesy of a press statement, “ISIS has three slave markets through which it sells Yazidi women in the cities of Fallujah, Mosul, and the Syrian city of Raqqa.”
He then added, “The organization sells woman for as low as 1 US dollar. At the end of the month of Ramadan, ISIS donated Yazidi woman to every fighter in the ranks of the organization on the occasion of Eid.”
There have now been calls from activists for “foreign governments and humanitarian organizations” to address the abuse of women in the region by ISIS, as some have even been driven to suicide because of the trauma that they were put through.
