Twitter clone Rejaw closing

rejaw

Twitter clone Rejaw is closing May 15.

Launched in August 2008, the service was one of the first to offer push updates, delivering chat like live discussions to microblogging. Rejaw also offered an API, although few applications were built on it.

The official announcement doesn’t detail the reasons behind the closure, but public statistics would suggest it came down to numbers, or specifically in Rejaw’s case, a lack there of. Rejaw was one of a wave of Twitter like microblogging services launched between 2006 and 2008, a time where Twitter was growing, but hadn’t yet become the juggernaut it is today. Rejaw is likely the first of many similar services that won’t make 2010.
