UFC News: Conor McGregor Vs. Jose Aldo Taking Place At UFC 194, Aldo Promises To ‘Run Over’ McGregor In The Fight

We’re just one month removed from UFC 189, a.k.a. the Conor McGregor show, and now we can finally look forward to the most anticipated featherweight bout in UFC history between the UFC interim featherweight champion Conor McGregor and the current UFC featherweight champion Jose Aldo.

Conor McGregor scored a come-from-behind KO victory over Chad Mendes — who was Aldo’s replacement after he suffered a rib injury — back on July 11 to become the UFC interim featherweight champion.

While in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, Jose Aldo spoke with Fox Sports about his decision to pull out of his fight with McGregor that was supposed to take place at UFC 189, and he gave his thoughts on Conor McGregor’s performance against Chad Mendes.

“It was very difficult [to pull out of UFC 189]. It was a very important fight. There were many things involved. There were some days I would wake up saying, ‘I’m going to do it.’ Then there were some days I would wake up saying, ‘I’m not going to do it.’ It was a very important decision, but I think I took the right decision. Not really [upset at backlash]. People can say whatever they want. When I’m not fighting, I don’t really pay attention to what people are saying. It’s just something I ignore.”

Aldo went on to talk about the McGregor vs. Mendes fight, and says that he wasn’t surprised at all that McGregor came out on top. But, as far as McGregor being the interim champion, well, Aldo doesn’t really care about that, and he went on to say that McGregor won’t know what hit him when the two of them step inside the octagon.

“When I’m with him inside the cage, I’m going to run him over. He’s not even going to see what went over him.”

While it’s not yet confirmed, the McGregor vs. Aldo fight is expected to take place in December at UFC 194. Also, it’s expected that the fight will co-headline at AT&T Stadium with Ronda Rousey’s next title defense against Miesha Tate, which will almost certainly be the biggest UFC card of all time if it happens.

If the UFC is able to secure AT&T Stadium for UFC 194, there has been some talk of having CM Punk’s UFC debut take place on the card, along with Fedor Emelianenko’s UFC debut, which will likely be against former UFC heavyweight champion Cain Velasquez.
