‘Destiny’: Xur’s Exotic Goods For Weekend Of Aug 7, Bones Of Eao And The Last Word

Some Destiny players from Reddit facetiously formed a prayer circle Thursday night in the hopes of getting Xûr, Agent of the Nine, to offer up the Bones of Eao. Those prayers worked and came with a little extra too. PlayStation and Xbox owners can also pick up one of the best PVP weapons in the game this weekend from the mysterious vendor.

This weekend, Xûr can be found just outside of the Speaker’s building next to the railing overlooking the city. Turn left as soon as you spawn in the Tower and run straight to the north part of the social space. Here’s where you can find him on the Tower map.

Destiny Xur Tower North Railing (PS4, PS3, Xbox One, Xbox 360)

Xûr and his items will only be available in Destiny through the morning of Sunday, August 9. As soon as the clock strikes 5 a.m. ET / 2 a.m. PT, he will be gone.

Destiny Hunters will be happiest this week as the Bones of Eao, one of the last “House of Wolves” Exotics not sold yet by Xûr, is finally on sale. The fact that they come with a great stat roll is a bonus. Titans and Warlocks have seen these items before, but now is as good a time as any to pick up The Last Word Hand Cannon to swing Crucible multiplayer in your favor.

The Exotic Engram this week is the chest piece. That’s a welcome break from the helmet engram that’s been sold more weeks than not over the last several weeks.

Here is what is available for sale and upgrade from Xûr this weekend. Thanks again to DestinyDB for the Exotic information below.

For those wondering what to get, here are a few helpful hints.

The Last Word

Destiny The Last Word (PlayStation, Xbox)

The Last Word has a slight learning curve, but it is easily one of the top tier PVP weapons. The Hand Cannon is able to fire quickly and continuously thanks to the “Fan Fire” perk. Combine that with all of the bonus accuracy perks from “Hip Fire,” “Perfect Balance,” and “Last Word” and you have a dangerous weapon that can be fired while aiming down the sights or from the hip.

Yes, this weapon is getting nerfed in the Destiny 2.0 update and The Last Word also can’t be upgraded to the new levels in “The Taken King.” However, it’s still an extremely powerful choice in PVP today and will likely remain a viable weapon in PVP for the near future.

Eternal Warrior

Destiny Eternal Warrior (PlayStation, Xbox)

The Eternal Warrior helmet will give your Titan a statuesque look and frees up one of the Striker perk columns. The main draw on this Exotic piece is the “Resolute” perk, which provides “Unstoppable” for Fist of Havoc. This allows Striker Titans to go with “Shoulder Charge” or “Juggernaut” instead. While this is primarily a PVP perk, its other two perks are geared towards PVE. “Inverse Shadow” gives more Super energy from killing minions and “Infusion” replenishes health when picking up Orbs of Light.

The 56 Intellect stat roll for the Eternal Warrior is pretty bad this week, while the 75 Discipline is excellent. This is more of a collector’s item or first Exotic pickup at this point. Striker Titans have better options with the Armamentarium and the Helm of Inmost Light.

Bones of Eao

Destiny Bones of Eao (PlayStation, Xbox)

The Bones of Eao offer a fun gimmick in that the “Not Bound By Law” perk gives Hunters an extra jump. So that double jump turns into a triple jump and that triple jump turns into a quadruple jump. While it makes travelling around maps much more fun and can help you get to hard to reach places, their utility in battle is questioned. Thankfully, they also come with the “Heavy Weapon Ammo” perk to carry a little more of that sweet rocket launcher and machine gun ammo.

The 151 Discipline stat roll is not too far off the 166 max for boots, which makes this a good stat. Extra discipline is always welcome on the Hunter in Destiny to help regenerate grenades faster.

Voidfang Vestments

Destiny Voidfang Vestments (PlayStation, Xbox)

Voidfang Vestments is an Exotic Warlock chest piece that comes with a perk for the Voidwalker sub-class. The “Improved Axion Bolt” perk will spawn an additional seeker for Axion Bolt grenades. You also respawn with full grenade energy, and it comes with a “Hand Cannon Ammo” and “Special Weapon Ammo” perk to allow you to carry additional ammo for both.

This piece is as common as they come for Warlocks. The 159 Strength roll is well above average, so it’s not a bad buy if you’re newer to Destiny or you have an older set of Vestments with poorer stats.
