Next Week’s Surprise ‘Dragon Age: Inquisition’ Expansion Won’t Be The Last Story-Based DLC, BioWare Speaks

While Dragon Age: Inquisition fans have been waiting for details on the game’s next campaign DLC, almost no one was expecting that the next expansion would be coming out later this month. Giving gamers just over a week’s notice before Dragon Age: Inquisition‘s next add-on launches on current-gen platforms, BioWare today released the first trailer for the DLC which will be available for download starting August 11.

Titled The Descent, the upcoming Dragon Age: Inquisition DLC brings more story content to BioWare’s already narrative-rich role playing franchise. Keeping true to their recent announcement that they are dropping support for the Xbox 360 and PS3 for all future content, the developer has confirmed that the add-on won’t be available for purchase on last-gen consoles.

In The Decent, Dragon Age: Inquisition fans will delve into the underground dwarven network known as The Deep Roads. Players will be able to go to the new DLC anytime after they have reached Skyhold in the main storyline. Like the game’s first story-driven DLC, gamers can also play the DLC even after they have beaten Dragon Age: Inquisition‘s single player campaign.

Answering fan questions about next week’s DLC launch, Dragon Age: Inquisition creative director Mike Laidlaw has answered several community questions throughout the day from his personal Twitter account. In a move that will likely be popular to fans of BioWare’s signature fantasy series, Laidlaw confirmed that the new add-on will be available across all current-gen platforms on the same day for $14.99.

This news is of particular interest to Playstation 4 owners who had to wait a month before getting a chance to play Dragon Age: Inquisition‘s first campaign DLC due to a timed exclusivity contract between Microsoft and Electronic Arts.

As the Inquisitr reported last month, Dragon Age: Inquisition executive producer Mark Darrah already confirmed that the developer was working on additional story-based content for the game while speaking about the unfortunate necessity to drop future support for last-gen consoles. However, it now seems that BioWare has even more story DLC planned for Dragon Age: Inquisition even after The Descent.

When asked if next week’s content will be the add-on to expand upon the narrative of Dragon Age: Inquisition, Darrah openly confirmed that more DLC is still on the way.

Earlier this week BioWare teased The Descent DLC by teasing reports of earthquakes, which will be a central theme of the underground add-on, within Dragon Age: Inquisition.

Will new story content be enough to bring you back to the world of Dragon Age: Inquisition?
