Cristiano Ronaldo Superfan Spends Thousands To Look Like Real Madrid Star, Even Refers To Himself As Ronaldo
A 17-year-old Cristiano Ronaldo super-fan has admitted that he’s spent thousands of dollars changing his appearance to look just like the Real Madrid forward.
However Danish teenager Shanta, who lives in Odense but travels to Madrid on a regular basis to meet his heroes, insists that rather than trying to simply emulate Ronaldo in every way imaginable, he’s still trying to be “himself” but uses the footballer as motivation to reach his goals.
That hasn’t stopped Shanta from changing his surname to Ronaldo though, which he even asks his friends to call him on a daily basis. And because of his devotion to Cristiano Ronaldo, Shanta has even developed quite a fervent fan base for himself, as he has already amassed over 14,500 Twitter followers. While each of his messages appear to revolve around both Real Madrid and Ronaldo.
Speaking to the Mirror, Shanta explained, “My obsession for Cristiano is enormous. I’ve no idea how much I’ve spent emulating him. It’s definitely in the thousands though.”
“He’s not just just my passion, but he motivates me,” Shanta insisted. “All my friends, my family call me Cristiano Ronaldo. They know my passion and respect it. Some may think I’m crazy, but that’s the way I am. People tell me, ‘be yourself.’ But I cannot be myself more than I am now.”
But why is Shanta so obsessed with Cristiano Ronaldo? It’s simple: “The reason I wanted to get a life like him is that he is rich, famous and living the life.”
And while people are usually told to never meet their idols, because they almost inevitably shatter the illusion that they’re actually heroic, Shanta insists that Ronaldo is still fantastic even after he’s met them several times.
“I’ve met him for a couple of times and I can’t explain such a fantastic person he is,” Shanta Ronaldo explained. “He used his time very good for me where we spoke a lot. I waited every day at Valdebebas [Real Madrid’s training center] from 9am to 2pm just to see him.”
In fact, Shanta even insists that Ronaldo now actually remembers him when he arrives at the training centre. “Now, he knows me it means that every time I go to Madrid I can meet him, which I am proud of,” Shanta declared, while he even added, “Wherever, CR7 goes I’m with him. He even knows it himself.”
And even though he’s already visited Ronaldo and Real Madrid numerous times already over the last few months, Shanta is already planning his next trip to the Spanish capital. “I try to visit him as soon as possible,” Shanta proclaimed. “I’m already planning my next trip which is very soon.”
Shanta actually had a trial with Real Madrid back in 2014, while he has admitted that his obsession with Ronaldo began when he moved to the Bernabeu from Manchester United in 2008.
