‘The Muppets’ Inseparable Couple Split After 40 Years Together
How could The Muppets’ defining duo separate after decades and decades of love? Miss Piggy and Kermit the Frog had a love affair we could only watch from afar in admiration. The Los Angeles Times reported on the split, shocking Muppets fans everywhere.
As for what caused the split, it could have something to do with the stress of filming the new The Muppets TV series. The Muppets will premiere on ABC in the fall. The show is reality TV for Muppets fans. Kermit and Miss Piggy are still at odds. Perhaps work is a little too stressing for our friends. After all, the Muppets have been around a long time and through many incarnations.
It’s not clear why Piggy and Kermit would drop the ball on their relationship like this. I know they were always a mismatched couple. She was always way too high class for him. He was always aggravated by her. But seeing her throw karate chops that send him flying are a comedic signature of the Muppets. Maybe she’ll continue the karate chops, if just as an excuse to please Muppets fans.

It makes sense that Piggy and Kermit are breaking it off. If you saw the show preview, you’d see Kermit with his eye on a rather sultry looking pig. And meanwhile, Miss Piggy gives actor Topher Grace a huge kiss. Perhaps this is where all of that wound up.
But true Muppets fans know it’s never over between the Muppets’ No. 1 couple. There’s no way. They’d have to get back together either mid-season or a little after. Some Muppets fans have come just for the romance of a maniacal frog and a haughty pig.
Even Fozzy has a new girlfriend in this latest Muppets. But the question remains if these are the same puppets that they’ve been sticking their hands up and making talk all these years. I wonder how many years can pass before you have to just build a whole new Muppets puppet. Kermit is looking quite a bit raggedy. It could be from all the abuse from Piggy throughout the years and not just showbiz.
What’s cool is that we can expect to see some obscure Muppets return. I wonder who else besides the really weird and quite dated ones that pop up in the trailer the show will feature. I was a fan of the Muppets throughout childhood, even singing cool songs I learned from them. And here’s a more adult version of the Muppets that I can watch now. What could be nicer?
