Gwen Stefani, Gavin Rossdale Split: She Believes He Cheated

It appears as though infidelity may be at the root of Gwen Stefani’s break up with husband Gavin Rossdale. The couple recently announced their divorce in an official message to Us Weekly. They were married for 13 years.

Although many were surprised to hear the news of the divorce, an inside source told the magazine that it “was a long time coming.” The source further revealed that the court proceedings had all been dealt with over the course of a few months.

“It only looks sudden,” the insider explained. “But everything was worked out months ago so paperwork could be filed and the marriage could be ended quickly and easily.”

Stefani was last seen with her husband in mid-July in Los Angeles, when they were photographed in an outing with their children, Kingston (9), Zuma (6), and Apollo (17 months).

The source went on to add that the stars tried their best to save their marriage, and attempted to do so after the birth of their last child, Apollo. “Things were rocky before then but they tried to make the marriage work,” the insider stated. “But it just couldn’t. A lot of the feeling was gone.”

Despite all the behind-the-scenes filing and paperwork, even close friends of Gwen Stefani were taken back by the news. In fact, one such friend told Us Magazine that the singer and Voice star “seemed very happy and was gushing about her life with four boys,” and there appeared to be “no signs” on the surface that a divorce was in the works.

Meanwhile, both Stefani and Rossdale credited irreconcilable difference in their official papers, but many left are wondering just what came in between the two stars. With that in mind, TMZ is reporting that the main reason for the divorce was because Stefani thought her husband was cheating.

In particular, Stefani was not happy with her husband’s long touring stints with his band, Bush, which saw him away for months at a time. When she asked him if he could stop touring and stay home more, Rossdale thought she wasn’t being fair because she was gone just as much as he was.

Whatever the true reason for their split may be, they are both wanting joint custody over their children, which indicates that they at least ended things amicably. Along with joint custody, they are also dividing up their assets in equal proportions despite not having a prenuptial agreement.
