‘The Flash’, ‘Arrow’ And ‘Legends of Tomorrow’ Casts Hawkman

German actor Falk Hantschel has signed on to star in the CW network’s The Flash, Arrow and Legends of Tomorrow. Hantschel has been cast in the role of Hawkman, aka Carter Hall. Prior to settling in to his regular role in upcoming 2016 series Legends of Tomorrow, Hantschel will first appear in a special crossover episode of the CW’s hit series’ The Flash and Arrow, IGN reports.

It is unclear how Hantschel’s superhero alter ego will find his way into the world of The Flash’s Barry Allen and Oliver Queen, but he is sure to team up with the duo to fight crime before he takes flight in the CW spin off that is set to bow mid-season on the green network.

According to Comicbook, Legends of Tomorrowwill feature the Hawkman, along with his soulmate, Kendra Saunders, aka Hawkgirl, played by Ciara Renée. The actress made her first onscreen appearance as Kendra in the Season 1 finale of The Flash. The duo will join a group of super heroes and villains assembled by DC time traveler Rip Hunter to fight an unstoppable threat.

As superhero fans know best, Hawkman was the creation of comic writer Gardner Fox and artist Dennis Neville in the 1940s. His powers include archaic weaponry and his ability to fly thanks to a special harness made out of fictional Nth metal.

Legends of Tomorrow was developed by Greg Berlanti, who is the executive producer behind both The Flash and Arrow, as well as several other successful film and television series, Andrew Kreisberg (Supergirl, The Flash), Marc Guggenheim (Green Lantern), showrunner Phil Klemmer (Chuck) and Sarah Schechter (The Mysteries of Laura).

Hantschel’s credits include the action film White House Down, the CBS series Reckless, and the film Transcendence. He has also appeared in Knight and Day and StreetDance 2. An official airdate for The Flash and Arrow crossover episode with Hantschel has yet to be announced. As for The Flash, the series will return with a new villain in its second season on October 6. Arrow will be back on October 7.

In the meantime, The Flash fans can watch the 1990s edition of the superhero series on CW Seed, the network’s online platform. The old CBS series previously starred actor John Wesley Shipp in the role of Barry Allen. Shipp now plays Allen’s father in the CW incarnation. The CBS installment of The Flash ran for just 22 episodes, ending on May 18, 1991.
