Florida Woman Brutally Kills Daughter And Father, Hides Decaying Bodies In Shed Behind Home, Then Files Missing Persons Report

A Florida woman was charged with two counts of first-degree murder and one count of tampering with evidence after killing her father and daughter, then hiding their decaying bodies in a shed behind her home before filing a missing persons report, according to the Orlando Sentinel.

Florida police officers arrested 25-year-old Cheyanne Jessie of Lakeland on Sunday after discovering the decaying bodies of her father, Mark Weekly, 50, and her 6-year-old daughter, Meredith, in a plastic box. Both had been missing since July 18, their bodies hidden away in a neighbor’s shed.

It wasn’t until relatives began to worry about Weekly and his granddaughter that Jessie reported the pair missing on Saturday. She informed Lakeland police that her father and daughter weren’t actually missing since he had recently sent her a message via text, claiming that he had one year to live and wanted to spend it with his granddaughter in Georgia.

However, investigators found her story to be suspicious but still arrived at her home to complete the missing persons report. When they arrived at her home, they were greeted with a strong aroma of decaying flesh.

Jessie assured the investigators that the smell was from rotting meat that was left in the sink and a dead raccoon in the bushes. But according to CBS News, her reasoning wasn’t convincing enough. Police began searching the property, which led to the slain, decomposed bodies of Weekly and his granddaughter, who were stacked on top of each other inside of a plastic bin located in a shed.

She was immediately taken into custody, where she later told investigators without emotion that she killed her father in self-defense and accidentally stabbed her daughter.

Police officials believe that she murdered her daughter to prevent her from interfering with her new relationship, but her motive for killing her father in cold blood remains unknown.

“I know she didn’t like her daughter too much. I do know that,” said Ruby Poore, who is a friend of the family. “She’s always getting into trouble. She’s a handful.”

“We can’t understand in our minds how someone could murder their 6-year-old baby girl and murder their dad, but that’s exactly what she did and she showed no emotion.”

Jessie may have had the brutal murders planned; it was later discovered that she asked her boyfriend how long would it take for a body to decompose and if a human body could fit in a tote.

Jessie is currently being held at the Polk County jail with charges of first-degree murder and tampering with evidence after killing her father and daughter.
