Joliet High School Hazing: Girls Soccer Team Under Investigation

A hazing investigation is underway in Joliet, Illinois after pictures surfaced showing girls, confirmed to be the school’s soccer team, using rubber bands, plastic wrap, makeup, and whipped cream on each other.

The photos, which depict an “initiation right” were reportedly taken over the weekend in a Freemont motel, where the team traveled for a tournament. The Holiet Township High School girls soccer team was involved.

The pictures began cicrulating around Facebook, and resulted in the suspension of the coach, as well as several of the students involved.

The school has released a statement condemning the incident, saying that they are investigating the matter, but they will not respond to specific questions about the incident in question.

They also state that they in no way tolerate hazing at their school, which has been known to cause death for some hazing victims.

The school’s main statement was, “Please know that we are taking this matter extremely seriously.”

The Freemont Police Department also stated that they are investigating the incident, since that is where it took place. Deputy Chief Jeff Davis said that:

“We along with Joliet Police are investigating. Whatever happened, happened in our jurisdiction.”

Xochilt Correa, an mom who was picking up her kids from school on Wednesday told CBS News that:

“I was just disgusted to find out this type of thing happened. If it sends a message, then it sends the right message that it will not be tolerated.”

Several pictures depict the Joliet players tying some girls up with rubber bands and plastic wrap, while smearing their faces with makeup and whipped cream. One picture even shows a tied up girl with a bar of soap in her mouth.
