Cop Finds Offensive Label On Taco Bell To-Go Order, Photo Goes Viral As Taco Bell Does Damage Control

One Newton, Kansas cop recently got much more than he bargained for when he and his fiance stopped by a local Taco Bell restaurant on Saturday, Aug. 1. According to The Blaze, the couple received their two food items with the word “PIG” written with a black marker in big, bold letters. Needless to say, the couple was appalled over the offensive label and a photo of the officer’s order has gone viral. Outraged citizens have posted the offensive photo of the couple’s taco order via Facebook and Twitter.

Taco Bell has fired an employee that left an insensitive remark on an order of an officer and his fiancé.

During a recent news interview, the unnamed officer and his fiance recounted the shocking experience. The couple explained that management offered to either remake their food and refund their money. “I was told I could bring the 5 tacos back and she would have them remade,” the couple shared with us. “I advised her that we were both working and that wasn’t an option. She then said she would leave a note to refund our money and get the food remade.”

However, the company ultimately decided that remaking the food and offering a refund simply was not enough. It has been reported that the employee has also been terminated. The company’s senior director of operations, Jeff Graves, has made it clear that Taco Bell will not accept such behavior from employees, reports KAKE-TV.

“We do not share the same belief or view as the employee whatsoever,” Graves said. “Our company, Taco Bell, has always been pro-law enforcement, military. We’ve always supported the police in our community. Many of our restaurants give police discounts when they come in and eat.”

“We’ve of course apologized to him, all the Newton Police officers and, in fact, everyone in the community,” he added. “In fact, I’ve even met with the lieutenant with the Newton Police Department this morning, and we’re even going to plan a community event working with the Newton Police officers within the next week just to show our support for the officers and the community.”

According to KSHB-41, the Newton Police Department also released a Facebook statement in reference to the disheartening incident. “The store manager is terribly apologetic of the actions of her employee and assures us the situation is being handled appropriately,” part of the post reads. “A meeting this morning with the Senior Director of Operations yielded positive results, and we are actively working to develop a partnership with Taco Bell to host a community event in the near future. Details will be announced when available.”
