College Life And Super Kitchens Headed For ‘The Sims 4’

Fans of The Sims franchise from all over the world may have their eyes on Germany and EA’s upcoming press conference at Gamescom, but there’s no need to wait until next week for news about The Sims 4.

Kotaku reports that college life has arrived for The Sims 4. At least unofficially. Mod creator Simmythesim created the mod “Get to College,” which adds a university system to The Sims 4 for the first time this era. The mod uses code from the expansion pack The Sims 4: Get to Work. During normal work hours, sims can attend university classes in much the same way as the previous elementary school mod “Get to School.”

The benefits for attendance are impressive. If a sim successfully completes their major and graduates, they begin their chosen career at level 4. Unfortunately, the mod doesn’t create a new life stage or allow for on-campus living, so sims have no choice but to attend college as commuter students. It’s worth noting that both The Sims 2 era and The Sims 3 era featured university expansion packs, and that isn’t likely to change during The Sims 4 era. However, Simmythesim’s mod is an impressive substitute.

EA Games made a Sims 4 announcement of their own. Just five days before the highly anticipated press event at Gamescom, the production team behind The Sims 4 announced the next stuff pack, The Sims 4: Cool Kitchen Stuff. The new stuff pack will allow design minded sims to completely redecorate their kitchens with state-of-the-art stainless steel appliances and frosted glass cabinets. The Sims 4: Cool Kitchen will include new outfits and hairstyles, but there are undoubtedly two stars of the new stuff pack. The first is the Ice Cream Maker, which will allow sims to make ice cream, gelato, and soft serve. The Ice Cream Maker will feature 30 flavors and assorted toppings.

The other star of The Sims 4: Cool Kitchen Stuff is the long-awaited return of dishwashers. No need to worry if you don’t plan on purchasing The Sims 4: Cool Kitchen Stuff right away — dishwashers will be included in a free content update for all The Sims 4 players.

Of course, the announcement of The Sims 4: Cool Kitchen Stuff begs the question of what does EA plan to announce for The Sims 4 at Gamescom? Could fans of The Sims 4 finally learn about the second expansion pack?

The Sims 4: Cool Kitchen Stuff launches on August 11.
