Bella Thorne Vs. Kylie Jenner: Both Teens Show Skin And Date Older Guys, But Only One Gets Criticized

Bella Thorne has more in common with Kylie Jenner than you might realize. Both girls are teens who are dating older men, they both like to share scantily-clad selfies, and they’ve both been famous since they were very young. However, there’s a key difference between the two stars — Kylie gets criticized a lot more than Bella does.

A recent POPSUGAR article has nothing but good things to say about 17-year-old Scream star Bella Thorne and her 23-year-old boyfriend, Faking It actor Gregg Sulkin. The site describes the couple as “ridiculously cute” and “adorable,” and it says that their Instagram photos “are enough to inspire anyone’s #relationshipgoals.”

Articles about 17-year-old Kylie Jenner and 26-year-old Tyga tend to have a different tone, and they aren’t usually accompanied by a photo tribute to the couple. A recent Huffington Post piece about Tyga and Kylie is titled, “How Excusing Tyga And Kylie Jenner’s Relationship Validates The Sexualization of Young Girls,” and it criticizes society for accepting of the couple. Its author also complains that Tyga “has yet to be truly challenged for his desire to date an underage girl.” A quick Google search doesn’t reveal any similar articles about Bella Thorne and Gregg Sulkin.

Bella Thorne and Kylie Jenner also share a love of posting paparazzi photos of themselves on Instagram, and many of these pictures show the girls wearing some pretty skimpy clothing. However, Bella doesn’t receive a ton of tabloid attention whenever she’s photographed wearing a revealing outfit. Meanwhile, Hollywood Life has compiled a photo collection of Kylie’s “Most Sexy & Inappropriate Everyday Looks.” Kylie and Bella’s similar looks include the dresses with plunging necklines below.

Bella and Kylie also like to show off their swimwear collections on Instagram, but Kylie gets a lot more media attention whenever she posts a photo of herself rocking a revealing bathing suit.

So, why exactly is it that Kylie gets criticized more often than Bella? Perhaps the Keeping Up With the Kardashian star receives more scrutiny because she has earned a bit of a reputation for “being famous for being famous” — she’s a reality show princess, and Bella Thorne is a Disney princess. People might view Bella’s acting career as a more legitimate profession than Kylie’s reality TV gig. And as far as the girls’ relationships with older men go, perhaps the interracial aspect of Kylie’s relationship simply draws more attention to it.

Bella Thorne must see Kylie as a bit of a kindred spirit — she actually defended the lip-obsessed brunette during a FOX411 interview. Bella was asked to share her thoughts about Kylie receiving criticism for being too sexy, and she revealed that she’s also no stranger to being labeled with the “S” word.

“I would say she’s a beautiful, sexy girl — look at her, she’s gorgeous. So, of course people are going to say she’s too sexy, like she’s already 17 and she’s already so beautiful. People tell me I’m sexy too and I’m like, ‘Dawg, I’m just being me. If you find me sexy that’s your problem because you’re looking at me like that.’ I’m not trying to portray anything else than just me.”

As the Inquisitr previously reported, Bella and Kylie have one more thing in common — they also don’t mind talking about their breasts. However, while Kylie is denying rumors that she has breast implants, Bella is telling jokes about padding her bra and not hitting puberty until age 17.

Do you think there’s a double standard when it comes to the way the media treats Bella Thorne and Kylie Jenner?
