‘The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt’ Soon To Update With Patch 1.08, Quest Fixes, Groundwork For New Game Plus Included

Developers of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt have given players free DLC and formidable support to the game since its launch in May. With the sixteenth and final free DLC on its way, it is time for another major patch to the epic RPG. Patch 1.08 is not out yet, but the game’s community lead teased and then later posted patch notes for patch 1.08.

Most notably, the patch notes mention the final free DLC, a New Game Plus extension, coming to The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. Although New Game Plus will not be added with patch 1.08, the notes indicate that patch 1.08 will lay the groundwork for the addition. Specifically it is stated, “Preparatory features paving the way for the introduction of New Game + in the future.”

Of course, the latest patch for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt did much more than prepare the game for New Game Plus. Fixes to gameplay, achievements, graphics, and quests are all part of the patch. A few rare issues where items in the stash would disappear or Geralt would become stuck while running will be rectified. A clever way to circumvent the increased level requirement on some gear after patch 1.07 is also incorporated.

“In patch 1.07, the level requirements for certain items were scaled up, leaving some players stuck with only unusable gear. With patch 1.08, we are introducing the Wolven Hour potion. This potion will be available in everyone’s inventory once they install the patch. It will reduce level requirements on all gear for a period of one hour. This will give players time to level up or find alternative equipment using the gear that was available to them in patch 1.05 but became unusable after patch 1.07. After one hour, the potion’s effects will cease and the requirements for all gear will revert to their original, pre-potion values.”

A number of fixes to certain quests in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt are also a part of patch 1.08. Fixes to “It Takes Three to Tango,” “Get Junior,” and “Family Matters” are just three instances of quests being repaired. Several other quests are included in the patch notes with both rare and common issues addressed.

CD Projekt Red and its developers plan to support The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt over the next two years before moving on to Cyberpunk 2077. Although the free DLC is about to come to an end, two large, paid expansions are scheduled to release during that time. The first, called “Hearts of Stone,” is scheduled for an October release, while “Blood and Wine” is likely to be seen in early 2016.

“Hearts of Stone” is said to be a 10-hour plus campaign that leads Geralt into No Man’s Land and Oxenfurt. He will be tasked with taking on a mysterious contract from the Man of Glass before the expansion comes to a close. In “Blood and Wine,” Geralt will travel to a new region called Toussaint where the war has not yet reached. A “bloody secret” awaits him there, though, and it will take the player 20 hours or more to complete.
