‘Bachelorette’ Kaitlyn Bristowe On Shawn Booth: ‘We Are Real People’

Since Kaitlyn Bristowe revealed she chose Shawn Booth on The Bachelorette, the couple has been everywhere, showing off their deep affection for one another. The pair were on Jimmy Kimmel Live where the affable host made them swear on a stack of Us Weekly magazines that they would get married. They dutifully complied, assuring Kimmel they would not be added to the long list of Bachelor and Bachelorette couples who don’t make it to altar.

At the AOL Build event earlier this week, Kaitlyn and Shawn participated in an in-depth interview. Backstage, the once-scorned castoff of Chris Soules signed the memory wall “The future Mrs. Booth.”

Kaitlyn took to her personal website Thursday to let fans know what it’s really like for her and Shawn, and spilled on her belief that fate brought them together.

Bristowe said the relationship is not perfect and the couple sometimes disagrees. She said she sometimes gets mad at him for being on his phone. But that does not detract from their love and their intent to stay in the relationship long-term.

“And at the end of the day, we aren’t characters on a tv show. We are real people.”

Kaitlyn used flowery language to describe how she and Booth met and fell in love, pointing to the fact that geography would have prevented a chance meeting. Bristowe lives in Vancouver while Booth is in Nashville.

“It wasn’t an accident that my best friend made me go on that show, it’s not an accident that Chris Soules didn’t see me as his wife, and it wasn’t an accident that Shawn’s sister saw him with someone like me and told him to risk it. I truly believe we were meant to meet, and be together forever.”

The Toronto Star reported that the couple is not yet rushing into a marriage, as they prefer to just enjoy the engagement for now. They have looked ahead to how they might handle those issues of geography, according to Bristowe.

“I think we love the idea of having a summer home in Vancouver and living in Nashville.”

They joked they might get married in British Columbia or by an Elvis impersonator in Las Vegas.

E! Online reported on a “conspiracy theory” that Bachelorette producers brought in Nick Viall mid-season to save the show because Bristowe showed such an early commitment to Booth. That theory is only speculation, and E! called it a “little food for thought.”

Bristowe’s season was quite different from past Bachelorette installments. Kaitlyn broke the show rules by telling Shawn off-camera that he was “the one” when there were still many other contestants remaining. Bachelorette host Chris Harrison said the show’s team was “disappointed” in the infraction.
