Is The Duggar Family Going Broke? Maybe Not

The financial status of the Duggar family, rocked by scandal in recent weeks, is the subject of much speculation. This week, some sources alleged the family was broke, and others indicated the opposite. Numerous outlets, including Design and Trend, have written about the request for support added to the Duggar YouTube channel.

In the wake of revelations that Josh Duggar had molested several girls when he was a teenager, TLC dropped the Duggar family’s show, 19 Kids and Counting, from the network’s line-up. Design and Trend reported the cancellation would cost the Duggar family as much as $25 million in income.

The Duggars are now focusing their efforts on the family’s YouTube channel, known as Duggar Studios. The channel recently added a support button with the message “Help Duggar Studios make more fresh quality content. Every contribution is helpful, big or small.”

Design and Trend also notes that Jill Duggar Dillard and her husband Derrick recently attracted attention when they solicited donations to fund a mission trip.

The International Business Times reports that despite the requests for donations, it is unlikely that the Duggar family is broke.

According to the International Business Times, the television show was not the Duggar family’s only source of income. Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar, as well as the older Duggar children, are still in demand as speakers. Those appearances are not made for free and serve as a source of income for the Duggar family.

As previously reported by The Inquisitr, Jessa Duggar is stepping up her speaking engagement schedule despite her advancing pregnancy. Jessa Duggar has signed up for four speaking engagements with the Southern Women’s Show. When she takes the stage for the last appearance in Florida, Jessa will be 38-weeks pregnant.

In addition to indications they are still making money, the International Business Times notes that the Duggar family is still traveling and taking vacations. Jana Duggar and several other members of the Duggar family are flying to Tennessee for the wedding of Michael Bates, star of UPtv’s Bringing Up Bates. Rounding out the family’s vacation plans, the Duggar boys went on an extended camping trip in Wisconsin.

The International Business Times also reports that the Duggar family’s social media photos show them dining out, and Jim Bob gave Michelle a custom made ring with 19 different stones as an anniversary present. That type of spending doesn’t indicate a family on the verge of financial ruin.
