Ryan Seacrest: Cancelled Fox Show ‘Knock Knock Live’ Ends After Only Two Episodes

Ryan Seacrest’s Fox show Knock Knock Live has been cancelled after only two episodes.

Variety reports Fox decided to pull Seacrest’s summer reality show after it failed to produce the ratings they had originally hoped for.

The first episode premiered on July 21, and averaged a 0.5 rating in 18-49 and 1.7 million viewers overall, which marked the lowest ratings for any Big Four series premiere this summer.

The show, which was produced by Dick Clark Productions and XIX Entertainment, was heavily promoted by the network, and Seacrest, who is normally associated with worldwide success, served as both the host and executive producer for the reality show.

Knock Knock Live showed celebrities knocking on ordinary people’s doors and handing them prizes. David Beckham and Common appeared in the first two episodes, while Justin Bieber was shown in the second episode handing out donations. Martha Stewart, Ariana Grande, Meghan Trainor, and Lea Michele were all on board to appear in future episodes. However it seems as though that probably will not happen unless the show is picked up by another network.

While Bieber’s episode garnered a lot of press attention, the ratings were simply not there and it only brought in 1.6 million total viewers.

During his first knock, Justin arrived at the home of a 15-year-old named Ashley, who had missed her quinceañera after contracting meningitis and nearly dying, the Daily Mail reports. Not only did he provide her with a belated quinceañera party complete with all of her friends and family members, Justin also slow danced with Ashley, provided a shopping spree, and gave the family $10,000 for Ashley’s medical bills.

“She’s a really big fan of mine,” Justin said. “She missed a lot of important events in her life, I just wanted to bless her.

“Justin Bieber’s music is really what got Ashley through this,” Ashley’s sister said, noting that she particularly liked to listen to his song “Pray.”

Next in line to meet Bieber was a man named Nikia and his adorable rapping toddler son, Noah, who has down syndrome.

“It’s so amazing what you are doing with this little guy,” Justin told the father. “I have something for you, I wanted to bless you. I heard that you guys weren’t really doing so well and I have this for you,” he said while handing him a check for $50,000, provided by the show’s sponsors. “I just wanted to come here and bless you with that.”

Knock Knock Live’s Tuesday time slot at 9:00 p.m. will now be filled with episodes of Brooklyn Nine-Nine and The Last Man on Earth.

Ryan Seacrest hasn’t cut all ties with Fox, however. In January, he will be heading back to the network to host the final season of American Idol.
