Woody Allen Reveals ‘Paternal’ Marriage To Soon-Yi, 35 Years Younger, Denies Dylan Farrow Sexual Abuse [Video]

Woody Allen has been married for 20 years to Soon-Yi Previn. Aware of the controversy that still rages over whether Woody should have wed the 35-years-younger adopted daughter of his ex-girlfriend Mia Farrow, Allen described what he terms a paternal relationship, reported MSN.

“I lucked out in my last relationship. I’ve been married now for 20 years and it’s been good. I think that was probably the odd factor that I’m so much older than the girl I married. I’m 35 years older, and somehow, through no fault of mine or hers, the dynamic worked. I was paternal,” said Woody.

Allen also revealed that he felt Soon-Yi allowed him to make decisions, at least initially, and he in turn gave her the authority to make her own decisions as a present.

“She responded to someone paternal. I liked her youth and energy. She deferred to me, and I was happy to give her an enormous amount of decision-making just as a gift and let her take charge of so many things. She flourished. It was just a good luck thing,” added Woody.

Allen ignored the age difference after their romance started.

“[It initially began as a] fling,” said Woody. “Then we started going together, then we started living together, and we were enjoying it. The age difference didn’t seem to matter. It seemed to work in our favor, actually.”

As for the sexual abuse allegations, Allen has no worry about how it impacts the attendance of his films or his ability to create new movies.

“I always had a small audience. People did not come in great abundance and they still don’t,” added Woody.

Allen most recently faced allegations from Dylan Farrow, his adopted daughter, of sexual assault that occurred more than 20 years ago, reported Time.

Although those allegations have resurfaced, the assault charges stemmed from the custody battle and breakup between Farrow and Woody.

That timing has led some to question the validity of those abuse allegations. Canadian researchers discovered that when sexual abuse is charged during a custody battle, only 11 percent were substantiated, with 34 percent “suspected” but not confirmed to be true. More than 35 percent were unsubstantiated, and 18 percent were categorized as false.

In contrast, only 5 percent of child sexual abuse reports as a whole are false.

As the Inquisitr reported, Woody has addressed the sexual assault allegations. Allen firmly denied them.

Dylan stated that Allen molested her when she was 7-years old. Woody responded to those charges, claiming that her mother had convinced her those events happened.

“Of course, I did not molest Dylan. I loved her and hope one day she will grasp how she has been cheated out of having a loving father and exploited by a mother more interested in her own festering anger than her daughter’s well-being. Being taught to hate your father and made to believe he molested you has already taken a psychological toll on this lovely young woman…”
