George H.W. Bush Tweets Message Of Recovery, Thanks After Fall And Broken Neck Bone

After a recent hospitalization, former president George H.W. Bush tweeted that he was doing well and he cracked a bit of a joke. Though he gave everybody a scare and has a bit of recovering to do yet, it seems that the former president is on the mend.

Former president George H.W. Bush tweeted, “Who knew jumping out of planes was safer than getting out of bed? Thanks to all of your kind get-well messages.”

He posted a picture of himself giving two thumbs-up, wearing a neck brace. The post was retweeted nearly 6,000 times and favorited almost 10,000 times. He also got many tweets of support in response to his post.

As was previously reported by the Inquisitr, the former president broke his neck earlier in July when he fell at his summer home in Kennebunkport, Maine. He reportedly broke a bone in his neck, thus the need for the neck brace. Luckily, Bush did not suffer any more serious effects from the fall such as paralysis or long-lasting disability.

Bush celebrated his 90th birthday with a tandem parachute jump, thus his reference in his tweet to that being safer than just getting out of bed. Bush is the oldest living former president and at 91-years-old he clearly still has a sense of humor, even if he is battling Parkinson’s disease and enduring a fair number of medical challenges of late.

As CNN noted, despite multiple lengthy hospitalizations over the past few years, Bush has kept fairly active. The former president also did parachute jumps on his 75th, 80th and 85th birthdays.

USA Today details that Bush spent four days in the hospital after this last fall. Doctors indicated that he was in great spirits despite the broken neck bone, and he did not need surgery. However, it seems that the neck brace will be around for a while in various forms, and the former president will also need some physical therapy.

George H.W. Bush is the father of former president George W. Bush as well as former Florida governor and presidential hopeful Jeb Bush. Though the senior Bush’s presidency experienced a lot of criticism along the way, these days he is typically highly regarded by many on both sides of the aisle.

A look at George H.W. Bush’s tweet about his fall and recovery most certainly gives many a clear picture as to why he has become so treasured by those throughout the country. People are hoping he continues to recover well and stay healthy for many years to come.
