Victoria Siegel’s Autopsy Reveals Accidental Overdose [Video]

Victoria Siegel, whose billionaire parents, David and Jackie Siegel, starred in Queen of Versailles, died from “acute methadone and sertraline toxicity,” according to an autopsy report obtained by People magazine. Victoria’s death was determined to be an accidental drug overdose by a medical examiner. Victoria was just 18-years-old.

The television show, Queen of Versailles, followed the Seigel family as they built their 90,000 square foot home, according to Click Orlando.

Seigel’s autopsy, which was conducted by the Office of the Medical Examiner on June 7 in Orlando, Florida, was released Wednesday, reports People. The medical examiner found large amounts of methadone and sertraline in Victoria’s system during the autopsy. In June, when Victoria died, the Seigel family admitted it was likely that Victoria had taken drugs before her death, but her family wasn’t sure which drugs she might have taken. The autopsy revealed, however, that Victoria had consumed methadone and sertraline.

The medical examiner also found linear scars on Victoria’s left wrist. The scars were about five centimeters long. The autopsy report didn’t state if the scars appeared self-inflicted by Seigel. While methadone is used for pain treatment, sertraline, which is better known by its trade name Zoloft, treats depression. Seigel reportedly had prescriptions for both, and both of these drugs were found in her system during the autopsy.

On June 6, Victoria was found unresponsive at the Seigel residence in Orlando, Florida, while her family was out of town, and was pronounced dead at a local hospital, according to Click Orlando. For years, Victoria had struggled with an addiction to the prescription drugs she had to take to control her seizures, Seigel family spokesperson Michael Marder confessed in a statement to People.

“Unfortunately [Victoria] became dependent and struggled with this condition,” Marder previously told People in an interview about Seigel. “She voluntarily underwent rehabilitation and was working hard to address this problem.”

Marder believes Victoria Seigel might have been upset about some “cruel” text messages she received the morning of her death.

“The ex-girlfriend of Victoria’s boyfriend used his phone to send cruel and hateful text messages using the boyfriend’s phone,” Marder alleged through a Facebook statement, reports People, which might have spurred Victoria to consume too many drugs that day. “These messages were sent early on the morning of Victoria’s death. These messages were clearly intended to hurt Victoria and while we cannot be sure may have affected her emotional state at a time when she was emotionally vulnerable.”
