Charlize Theron And Sean Penn’s Awkward Reunion: Movie Re-Shoot Forces Exes Together

Charlize Theron and Sean Penn, who called off their engagement and split last month, were forced to reunite to re-shoot scenes for a movie they both worked on.

The movie, The Last Face, is a drama directed by Penn, and Charlize Theron plays one of the lead roles. The movie started filming in 2014, and it seemed like a good idea for Charlize and Sean to be spending time together on set. Now, however, working together feels awkward, as they are forced to be together on set after only six weeks of breaking up.

As the Inquisitr previously reported, it was Theron who initiated the break up. According to the report, Charlize channeled the Ice Queen and just stopped answering Sean’s phone calls.

Charlize and Sean were first spotted together as a couple in December, 2013, and a year later, they were engaged. Theron even gushed about Penn in an interview with Elle, saying, “he’s the love of my life.” In the same interview, Charlize talked more about their relationship while shooting The Last Face.

“There were moments where I was incredibly unfair to him. And moments where I felt like… he was incredibly unfair to me. But it makes you realize that no matter how complicated it gets, the priority is the relationship.”

The gushing didn’t stop there. An Esquire interview also revealed how Charlize was head-over-heels in love with Sean at that time.

“We’ve been friends for 20 years… The marriage thing is always so strange to me. I love the possibility of anything, but I’m really enjoying myself and the everyday moment and how that coincides with my son and my life and my friends. I’m a very, very, very lucky girl. Very lucky. He’s hot. He is hot.”

Everything seemed to be going smoothly based on Charlize Theron’s words, but apparently, that wasn’t the case. They, or rather, Charlize, called it quits in June.

People reported that Charlize and Sean were photographed on set in Cape Town, and there wasn’t a smile in sight. Both were photographed with serous faces, making people speculate that they just wanted the shoot to be over and done with.

This won’t be the last encounter Charlize will have with Sean. As the film wraps and the press tour begins, they are sure to see more of each other. Let’s just hope future encounters won’t be as awkward as this one.
