Archie Panjabi Of ‘Good Wife’ Fame To Star In ‘Brooklyn Nine-Nine’
Last Spring, Archie Panjabi said goodbye to her beloved Good Wife character, Kalinda Sharma. At the time, she told Entertainment Weekly she looked forward to her next role, whether it was another supporting character or a lead. Now, word has come that Panjabi will have a role in the Fox comedy, Brooklyn Nine-Nine.
TV Line confirmed the news, and Panjabi also made the announcement on Twitter. Panjabi is scheduled to star as Lieutenant Knox on Brooklyn Nine-Nine‘s second episode of the new season, which will air on October 4. Panjabi, who as Kalinda Sharma had relationships on both sides of the gender divide, will reportedly have an interest in Detective Boyle, played by Joe Lo Truglio.

American audiences know Panjabi best from The Good Wife, but she has some high-profile comedic work on her resume. Archie starred in the highly successful 2002 British film, Bend It Like Beckham.
Panjabi told EW that she’d known for two years prior to her Good Wife departure that her time with the series was coming to a close. Nonetheless, her character’s final scenes did not unfold as she had hoped.
“Honestly speaking, I would’ve liked something that would have featured Kalinda a little more, but they have restrictions and I respect that. They did do a degree of justice to her in the last episode.”
Prior to Panjabi’s exit, much was made by internet commentators about the lack of interaction between Kalinda Sharma and Julianne Margulies’ character, Alicia Florrick. There were rumors of a feud between the actors and even speculation their final scene together was filmed using a split screen.
When asked by Us Weekly whether there were some fancy camera tricks involved in the scene, Panjabi said she was “not privy” to the filming decisions made by producers.
Archie Panjabi starred in the recent thriller San Andreas and filmed the BBC drama Shetland. Archie showed off the good time she had with the cast and crew with her recent tweets from the set.

The new season of Brooklyn Nine-Nine starts Sunday, September 27 on Fox.
