California Teen Duct Taped, Raped, And Strangled Maddy Middleton, Then Threw Her Body In The Trash

California teen Adrian Jerry Gonzalez, 15, duct taped, raped, strangled, and stabbed Madyson Middleton before throwing her body in the trash, Santa Cruz police say. Maddy Middleton, 8, was found dead in a recycling bin at the Tannery Arts Center housing complex on Monday.

Gonzalez lived in an apartment near Maddy, and is being charged as an adult in the murder case. He has been charged with six felony charges in relation to the girl’s death. The charges levied against the California teen include murder with special circumstances, kidnapping with special circumstances, and four counts of sexual assault, according to a KRON4 report.

Adrian Gonzalez’s now-removed Instagram account allegedly shows that the teen was a “disturbed young man” who might have been “suffering” from depression and thoughts of suicide.

According to a New York Times report, Maddy Middleton’s accused killer posted some rather disturbing posts on his “awkwardyoyoer” social media account.

“Wear all black to try and look powerful and hide the crippling anxiety. Towards the future and the constant worry that I’ll never find someone who loves me,” Gonzalez reportedly said in a post before raping and murdering the 8-year-old girl.

The teen was reportedly known around the neighborhood for his ability to twirl a yo-yo. Gonzalez showed a lot of interest in the missing girl case, and kept asking questions about the girl, according to police reports. Setorro Garcia, a neighbor, told local reporters that Gonzalez asked a lot of questions about the disappearance and seemed “obsessed” with the case.

“As I said when I first announced that we found her–it’s heartbreaking,” Santa Cruz Police Chief Kevin Vogel said. “The last time I stood in front of a group like this and spoke was when my two officers were killed. And it feels like it did that night. It’s terrible.”

The teen was allegedly “somewhat” shy and “reclusive.” Santa Cruz believe he lured Maddy into his apartment when he was the only one there, alone, and restrained her with duct tape before raping her. After the child molestation, Gonzalez allegedly stabbed her in the neck, strangled the girl, and then tossed her body into the garbage. The housing complex is reportedly an “affordable housing” community for artists.

The housing center is a public-private nonprofit project, which offers 100 affordable loft apartments for artists and their families. The former leather tannery facility includes an arts and dance studio, a café, and is situated on eight acres.
