Ben Affleck’s Standalone Batman Movie: Fans Love New Batman

Ben Affleck was present at 2015’s San Diego Comic-Con earlier this month to speak about the much awaited Batman v Superman movie.

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice is scheduled to open in theaters on March 25, 2016. The highly anticipated film will feature Henry Cavill returning as Superman, and Ben Affleck will portray the Caped Crusader’s character for the first time. The cast also includes Amy Adams, Laurence Fishburne, Jeremy Irons and Holly Hunter.

Ben Affleck fans and Batman loyalists are already excited to see Ben take on the role for the first time.

San Diego Comic Con had a surprise for Batman fans that turned up to see Ben Affleck and the rest of the panel. The audience also enjoyed a first look at some of the gadgets and other goodies that will be used in the movie. As SlashFilm reported, the items were displayed behind glass with very little description, leaving fans to make their own guesses as to their uses.

First there’s the “Tech Cowl,” which appears to be some kind of small helmet. SlashFilm guessed that the helmet might be used by Ben Affleck as Batman when driving his new aerial vehicle.

“Perhaps this is something that Batman wears when he’s piloting his new aerial vehicle? It definitely looks like something that could be worn while piloting a vehicle.”

Also on display for Ben Affleck’s future use was a rocket launcher, sticky bombs, a grappling gun, Batman’s famous Batarang, as well as some other mysterious Bat Gadgets, one of which seemed to resemble a fire extinguisher.

In case you haven’t seen it yet, here’s the trailer of Ben Affleck’s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. See if you can spot any of the new Bat Gadgets.

Quite apart from the upcoming Zack Snyder helmed Batman venture, it is rumored Ben Affleck will be starring in his own standalone Batman movie. Deadline reports that Ben Affleck will co-write the new Batman screenplay with DC Comics chief creative officer Geoff Johns, who is famous for writing several comic book series, including Green Lantern, Aquaman, Batman, Justice League, The Flash and Superman. He also has written TV series superhero transfers Smallville, Arrow and The Flash, as well as the Supergirl project with Greg Berlanti for CBS.

Guardian has reported that Ben Affleck will expand his talents to directing when he takes charge of the cameras for the upcoming adaptation of the Denis Lehane crime novel, Live by Night, which is due to begin shooting in November. With Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice scheduled for release early in 2016, the Ben Affleck’s standalone Batman movie has been pushed back even further, and rumors surrounding the project indicate that it may be released in 2018.
